A simple shot of the London Eye from when I went to the West End last week. HDR's with lines link this can often cause a white halo effect or strong contrast either side so I took my time to try and reduce this. I then enhanced the image with Lucisart afterwards.

Taken at the Brisbane Ekka 2008. I had to wait a while and adjust regularly - but all 5 wheels are in motion in this shot.

I first learned to use a spindle back in October, but didn't find the method I was taught to work very well with some of my health issues. However, a friend has been working with her drop spindle a lot and I am getting ready for a trip and thought it would be nice to be able to spin some while gone, so I dusted off my spindle and spun up this rainbow neppy targhee roving.

Special Bosworth spindle - Pink Ivory with Ebony Shaft 24 gr/0.84 oz

Golden Spindles (Clavulinopsis fusiformis) are beautiful fungi that spring out of old grasslands in dense clumps, adding a bit of colour to the fields alongside the vibrant waxcaps that often grow in the same fields. The species is sometimes known as spindle-shaped yellow coral, or spindle-shaped yellow fairy clubs. It was first described in 1799 by James Sowerby from specimens collected on Hampstead Heath in London. I photographed this clump in the same fields where I counted 97 Pink Waxcaps in the West Yorkshire Pennines.

I have been captivated by cotton since April, when my son delivered some of his home-grown cotton bolls to me. I had bought a tackle spindle in anticipation of receiving some of the cotton which he grew in his vegetable garden. Since then, I have been in a spin, creating yarn using the tackle, which is a support spindle, that is, it rests on a support while you spin. I bought the pretty little waterlily tea candle holder from a dollar store and have been happily spinning ever since.
