Nightshift sphinx moth arrived for pollination duties. He moves about frenetically from blossom to blossom in the dusk and this is the only in focus photo I was able to get.
Jungfraujoch, Switzerland - 8 June 1982
The Sphinx Observatory near the top of the Jungfraujoch is one of the highest astronomical observatories in the world. The normal method of reaching it is by elevator from Jungfraujoch station; the only way to get any large items there is by helicopter.
The Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001.
The Sphinx, the pyramid of Khafre, and the pyramid of Menkaure. Also, the tiny pyramid on the left is a pyramid for one of the queens.
On the left is a Tetrio Sphinx Caterpillar caterpillar that is abotu 4 - 5 days old. On the edge of the leaf to the right, there are several newly hatched Sphinx caterpillars. As you can see, they grow 100x their volume in a single day.
Happened upon this wonderful garden on the water's edge while exploring. Was on a sim or the parcel called Sphinx. Not sure if it is still there. Image taken Sept. 20 2009.
In the forefront, we see a Tetrio Sphinx Moth (plumeria) caterpillar that is about 4 or 5 days old. Directly next to his head, we see one that is about 24 hours old. This gives you a good idea of the rate at which they grow.

This is one of two granite sphinx that guard the north entrance of the temple.
The ball in front of the sphinx is the world, there is even a map cut into the stone.
