I was hoping this wasn't the case, but it seems like the situation has changed a bit from when I first heard about Teufelsburg. It's deifinitely not a real urban-ex site anymore.. There are people who give "tours" of the site for €7. I have no idea what their real affiliation to the site is, but they seem to have it on lockdown. It's a shame we weren't able to explore on our own, but at least I got some good photos. More free advertising for these capitalists I suppose..

10 strips (S-shape based on Spherical Spiral) are interlocked at 12 points.
Each strip is bent and slightly twisted to fit to a reference sphere.
Modelled with Google SketchUp with "Unfold" plugin.
We have driven 1200 miles to reach Hadley's son's family for Christmas. Tired, but very glad to be here. After all, I can ice my knee here as well as at home. Which is a good thing as there are 18 steps up the stairs to the guest bedroom!
ANSH: spherical
From whichever side you look at it, it still is rain - let's define it "spherical rain".
I derive this smart concept of the spherical symmetry of rain from the definition of a "spherical bastard" by the renowned astrophysicist Fritz Zwicky, the discoverer of the dark matter issue (among many other things).
A delicate dandelion seed head, waiting for the wind to disperse its payload across the Texas countryside.
This is a spherical panorama consisting of 11 individual photos, an equirectangular projection yielded 10490 x 5245px (55MP).
One from the early days, when I just started out on my panoramic explorations. I have zero clue why I did it with f/3.5, most likely a mistake, but it goes to show that the 8mm Samyang is not too bad wide open overall.
And as usual, regular geometric patterns on the floor, planks or tiles etc. are just plain unforgiving when it comes to stitching, but I did this one ok-ish I'm willing to say (..or maybe not).
Highlights are blown out of course, haven't discovered exposure bracketing at this point in time I think. C'est la vie ..

I've been learning new trick and ripping my hair out at the same time - spherical panoramas. A completely different way to think about, shoot and process photographs. Thank goodness I still have the required level of obsessive nature to stick with it as the stitching process has been a real trial. But I'm seeing the light and I think if I get the ducks all lined up; it should get a lot easier! This is the first one that is mostly correct and that has a reasonable composition. A new way of thinking is very much required for this style of photography.
The Moeraki Boulders are spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach on the wave-cut Otago coast, protected in a scientific reserve.
The most striking aspect is their size and shape: about a third of the boulders are about 0.5-1m in diameter, the other two-thirds from 1.5-2.2m, mostly spherical or almost spherical.
This museum's building was designed by an Architectural firm SANAA.
'Spherical Pavilion MARU' was also designed by SANAA.

This loveable creature is a new arrival to our house this year!
From yesterday's paper:
“Using hand-held vital video microscopy used for imaging human nasal microcirculation in health, interventions and disease, we were able to solve an age-old mystery,” Prof Ince said. “Rudolph’s nose is red because it is richly supplied with red blood cells, comprises a highly dense microcirculation, and is anatomically and physiologically adapted for reindeer to carry out their strenuous annual flying duties for Santa Claus.”
Remember all that when you hear the hooves on the rooftops this Christmas. But shhh, not a word to the children!
according to today's paper he would have a blue nose on Christmas eve -because of the speed of travel necessary to visit every house in the world on that night!!!!:)
