Vosges.

Again water spray onto a spectacle lens but this time the flower is actually a photo in photoshop on my monitor, so was taken with the light from the LCD at ISO1000 instead of my normal flash. This gives all sorts of interesting possibilities :)

It seems that the light falls through the windows. A dry sandbank turned out to be a nice place to take the picture and get depth in the picture.

After living in California for 35+ years, I was vaguely aware there were some air shows in the area, but I had never paid any attention to them.
After being inspired by hundreds of "plane in flight" photos from my flickr friend Roland Bogush, I finally decided I should go to an air show and take some photos.
Over a year ago, another flickr friend, Trung Tran, sent me a link to some auto and air shows in the San Francisco Bay area. I finally got around to it, by hitting two air shows back to back, one in Salinas, and the other, a week later, in San Francisco.
I came back home with over 7,000 shots, the majority of them surprisingly good. That still left me with over 5,000 decent images – it is easy to run up the numbers when you start shooting in the machine gun mode!
So the challenge was next to whittle these down to a few "best" shots worth uploading. I could probably pick a dozen or so photos that were the real standouts. But I decided to pick a larger set of photos that covered the events more broadly.
Still, after some 300+ photos over the past two months, it feels like I've been endlessly uploading air show photos, so it's time to wrap it up with these few last shots.
This was the grand finale, by the Blue Angels in their F-18's, with this star burst flight over Alcatraz.
