Jökulsárlón is a large glacial lake in southern part of Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland.
Situated at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, it developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The lake has grown since then at varying rates because of melting of the glaciers.
Jökulsárlón has been a setting for four Hollywood movies.
These icebergs are seen in two shades: milky white and bright blue, which depends on the air trapped within the ice and is an interplay of light and ice crystals. And due to volcanic activity the ice can turn black due to the ashes covering the glacier after an eruption.

Spectacle E’e (eye) falls – the unusual name is the result of an incident involving a local lad who fell in love with the miller’s beautiful daughter. The miller disapproved and put an end to the romance. As revenge the lad placed an eye glass in the mill’s thatch. The thatch soon caught fire and the mill was burned to the ground.
On the way to take this I had my own spectacular "FALL" backwards whilst carrying a tripod and baggage. Tripod is now TRASHED .

Spectacle toujours surprenant mais néanmoins spectaculaire... une grenouille surgit devant le photographe et lui offre son plus beau regard. à l'affut du moindre geste elle reste sur ses gardes et plonge au moindre mouvement.

Uno spettacolo sempre sorprendente ma comunque spettacolare... Una rana appare davanti al fotografo e gli offre il suo aspetto più bello. Alla ricerca del minimo movimento, rimane in guardia e si tuffa al minimo movimento.

Immer eine überraschende, aber dennoch spektakuläre Show... Ein Frosch taucht vor dem Fotografen auf und bietet ihm seinen schönsten Blick. Auf der Suche nach der kleinsten Bewegung bleibt sie auf der Hut und taucht bei der geringsten Bewegung ab.

Another night, another image...
Does anything give as much pleasure as NATURE?
From the series 'Celestial delights'.
The story behind this image still makes me smile:
The seaside view from the terrace of the 10th floor penthouse where we used to live in Ostend.
We’d had a very busy day in the studio and after a quick light meal, just sat there unwinding with a nice glass of cool Chardonnay, enjoying the fresh sea air, the nightlight, the sound of the water, when SUDDENLY, a first distant rumble and a flash of lightning.
We bumped each other as we both rushed inside for camera and tripod.
Set it all up, went back to our chairs and wine, and waited.
I saw it moving across the sea, opened my lens and let the camera record this fabulous light-show of Nature.
With the cable release in one hand, wine in the other, yep, that’s the life, he?
Mind you, this was a one off, there was no rain and no danger, just this awesome spectacle.
Wonderful, great memories.
It must have been F11 and open for between 1 to 3 min.
It's done by 'feeling', if you get a lot of flashes in the first few seconds, then, you've got your shot, otherwise, you wait and have sip of wine...
This here is NOT an 'exact' science, the success depends entirely on the elements!

Es tracta d'un Parc Natural de bellesa salvatge declarat Reserva de la Biosfera per la UNESCO. Un paisatge semidesèrtic de 42.500 hectàrees que impacta i sorprèn amb cada nova visita. Un espectacle insòlit al sud-est de Navarra, pròxim a Tudela, que malgrat la seva aparença nua i inhòspita, amaga grans valors naturals.
En Bardenas Reales, l'erosió dels seus sòls d'argiles, guixos i gresos ha esculpit capritxoses formes creant un món d'aparença gairebé lunar poblat de barrancs, altiplans planes i turons solitaris.
This is a Natural Park of wild beauty declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. It is a semi-desert landscape covering 42.500 hectares that is striking and surprises the visitor every time. An unusual spectacle in south-east Navarre, near Tudela which, despite its bare and inhospitable appearance, is home to great natural values.
In Bardenas Reales, the erosion of its clay, chalk and sandstone soils has sculpted capricious forms in the landscape to create almost lunar effects, full of gullies, plateaux and solitary hills.
Il s'agit d'un Parc Naturel d'une beauté sauvage classé Réserve de la Biosphère par l'UNESCO. Ce paysage semi-désertique de 42 500 hectares, frappe et surprend à chaque nouvelle visite. Un spectacle hors du commun dans le sud-est de la Navarre, non loin de Tudela, qui, malgré son aspect aride et dénudé, recèle de grandes richesses naturelles.

Diese wunderschöne, wilde Naturlandschaft wurde von der UNESCO zum Biosphärenreservat erklärt. Die 42.500 ha große Halbwüste beeindruckt und überrascht bei jedem neuen Besuch, denn trotz ihres kahlen, unwirtlichen Erscheinungsbilds birgt sie ein einmaliges Naturschauspiel. Sie befindet sich im Südosten Navarras, ganz in der Nähe von Tudela.
In Bardenas Reales hat die Erosion des Lehm-, Kalk- und Sandbodens verspielte Formen hervorgebracht, die eine Art Mondlandschaft voller Schluchten, Hochebenen und vereinzelter Hügel bilden.

À l'occasion de notre sortie d'hier, Rémy, Pierre et moi avons rencontré quelques photographes dont Simon. Nous étions partis à la recherche d'un harfang des neiges dans la région de St-Augustin-des-Maures. Ce fut l'occasion de discuter photo et du processus de retouche qui permette d'améliorer une photographie, mais aussi de prendre quelques photos de ce magnifique oiseau. Le voici en plein action...
