Each May Day Fowlers Troop and the Deptford Jack in the Green process through the streets of SE London or the City of London. On Wednesday 1 May 2013 I joined the celebrations as they began at noon, the procession heading out from the Dog and Bell pub in Prince Street, SE8 and wending its way to the Rose and Crown pub, Crooms Hill, SE10. A joyous and gloriously absurd spectacle brightening the city streets, I cannot recommend attending this highly enough. I only wish I'd had the time to follow them further.
From their website [www.deptford-jack.org.uk]: "The Fowlers Troop Jack in the Green was revived by members of Blackheath Morris Men and friends in the early 1980s. It is a revival of a Jack in the Green from about 1906 which was taken out around Deptford, South East London on May Day by the original Fowlers Troop."

Je devrais?
