Art Journaling without Fear page. I love doing pages with quotes. Did this one loose on watercolor paper. Will punch holes to add to my small journal.
It's been fun for the past few days looking into Spring and Summer archives and posting those next to what's outside now. Loving the present while eagerly looking forward to what's coming up. Probably not a bad life philosophy....
I last shot this scene in October 2013

It's fast becoming a favourite haunt of ours even though it's 100 of miles from where we live. We were back here in 2016 to celebrate a friend's birthday so, as you can imagine, I was keen to shoot the boats again. This time the weather was kinder even though there was snow on the far mountaintops.
The Inveraray Maritime Heritage Museum, located on Scotland's Loch Fyne, is based on the iron sailing ship Arctic Penguin, moored at the pier, along with the Clyde puffer VIC 72 Eilean Eisdeal, (renamed Vital Spark).
Vital Spark is a fictional Clyde puffer, a type of small steamboat which provided a vital supply link around the west coast and Hebrides islands of Scotland. These stumpy little cargo ships have achieved almost mythical status thanks largely to the short stories of Neil Munro who wrote about the Vital Spark and her captain Para Handy.
Puffers seem to have been regarded fondly even before Munro began publishing his short stories in the Glasgow Evening News in 1905. This may not be surprising, for these small steamboats were then providing a vital supply link around the west coast and Hebrides islands of Scotland. The charming rascality of the stories went well beyond the reality of a commercial shipping business, but they brought widespread fame. They appeared in the newspaper over 20 years, were collected in book form by 1931, inspired the 1953 film The Maggie, and came out as three popular television series, dating from 1959 to 1995.

New with Plymouth CityBus are the initial six from a batch of sixteen Alexander Dennis Enviro400 Citys (Cities?!). 550 (WA17 FSU) is the first of the batch and is seen on Royal Parade on 31 July, I believe, its second day in service. Departing from the company’s recent Flash branding, these are Sparks. Perhaps Flames, Lightnings, Ignites and Flares will follow?
The fourth generation of the Chevrolet Spark is on the market since 2015. It's built in the former Daewoo works in South Korea, like the closely related Opel Karl. After Opel was sold by GM production of the Karl stopped in 2019.
Taken for the Strobist Sundays theme of "movement."
This is a different take on the theme, but I'm submitting it nonetheless. I have a small, tabletop Tesla coil and have always wanted a photo of the spark movement. A long exposure was used to capture the motion of multiple sparks going between the central ball and the ground wire.
Strobist info: SB-800 @ 1/40 diffused through sheer white cloth from left and SB-R200 @1/80 in homemade softbox at right, slightly front. Black felt background.
Gotta see it larger. And be sure to read all the little notes.
It's where Bosch meets Biskup.
Primal Screen created a "screenwash" for The Sundance Film Festival this year. In fact, we did two, and this is one of them: "Spark City", an alternate Park City where we catch a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes at the festival. This plays as a continous loop before each screening during Sundance. Something to entertain the people as they filter into the theater and try to find their seats. There's so much going on here, too bad I can't upload a movie for you yet. Hopefully soon.
I created everything you see in the scene here: the layout, the buildings, the characters. The colors, effects, and compositing were done by Rick Newcomb (he was the head dude on the project). Animation was done in Flash by Joe Kubesheski, Joanna Davidovich, and Jeremy Seymour.
UPDATE: See a two-minute clip of it HERE.

Just trying to think outside of the box and come up with something unique. Let me know what you think!
Little Spark I watched you rekindle at a gentle breath of wind, you got so excited that maybe, just maybe you might get to catch and become a fire again. But then a big gust of wind came up to blow so hard that you almost went out, you clung on so tightly to your lil candle to just maybe oh maybe you might become what you were once again. Then you got your final gust of wind that put you out for good. Never again will that lil spark be alive, only a scar on the heart where that spark use to live. Never again....

Liar

I, I let you drive around my mind
I can't count the times you made me feel like I'm nothing
Played me like a fool, like a fool
Saying, "Drink another whiskey
Pop another pill
Money makes you happy
Heaven isn't real
You won't find nobody to love
Because your heart's too broke"
Now I know
You ain't nothin' but a liar
Yeah, I walk right out the fire
Yeah, you try to keep me down
Try to put me underground
But I'm only going higher
I can hear you in head
In my bed when I'm dreamin'
You try to be my friend
But you're blowin' smoke
Oh, and now, I ain't scared of
Tellin' you where you can go
'Cause I know
You're nothing but a liar
You burned me one too many times
Like a devil in disguise, hiding your true colors
Just leave me alone
Keep leading me on
Saying, "Drink another whiskey
Pop another pill
Money makes you happy
Heaven isn't real
You won't find nobody to love
Because your heart's too broke"
Now I know
You ain't nothin' but a liar
Yeah, I walk right out the fire
Yeah, you try to keep me down
Try to put me underground
But I'm only going higher
I can hear you in head
In my bed when I'm dreamin'
You try to be my friend
But you're blowin' smoke
Oh, and now, I ain't scared of
Tellin' you where you can go
'Cause I know
You're nothing but a liar
If I was doin' what you do
Then you would swear I poisoned you
You're nothing but a liar (liar)
Yeah, I walk right out the fire (fire)
Yeah, you try to keep me down
Try to put me underground
But I'm only going higher
I can hear you in my head
In my bed when I'm dreamin'
You try to be my friend
But you're blowin' smoke
Oh, and now, I ain't scared of
Tellin' you where you can go
'Cause I know
You're nothing but a liar

The Interstellar Spark is one piece of Blacktron II technology that is an example of the expression: “If its not broken… don’t fix it!”. With a heavy bulky structure, this ship won’t break a lot of record speeds like its successors, but it is one of the most reliable Vic Vipers in use by the Blacktron II air force.

This small Vic Viper was part of my participation on the New Elementary - 2019 Parts Fest #2.
You can see some of the other builds I made here:

And here is a small description of the process:
"When I saw the Roof Tile 1x8x3 Deg 25 No 1 in White (6262530|49618) I thought that they would be great to make spaceship wings because of their larger surface areas with fewer lines/unions. Since we are in “Novvember" I decided to make this year’s Vic Viper. Although I wanted to make a cleaner ship, I was able to incorporate some greebling on the wings using the “circular saw” part from the Mini Accessory, No. 11."
had a play with a new technique tonight, planning to use this with some light painting sometime this week...
