Reprised the "Soundwave being a DJ" theme...had this one in mind for a while, and finally got around to doing it.
Bit excessive & a bit off from what I had in mind, but c'est la vie. Better luck next time.
It was some time before Soundwave came across another civilian. Although he considered himself fortunate that he also did not come across and more Vehicons as well, his own fuel supply was past the point of painfully low. Soundwave suddenly found himself automatically transforming back into his warrior mode, lacking the energon reserve that it took to even sustain his alternate mode. He painfully staggered onward, his painful movements echoing the chassis limitations of the derelict that he had passed not so long ago.
Soundwave continued, one agonizing step after the next, holding his metal arm over his midsection not only to cover his wound but also out of the need to support his body while he moved. The Decepticon was literally doubled over in agony while he walked. His optics frantically surveyed the area, desperately searching for anything that the starving Decepticon could possibly convert into a usable fuel to no avail. The lack of fuel led to Soundwave losing his footing as he stumbled. He came crashing to the ground and lay there for a moment, trying to collect his senses. Soundwave looked upwards, losing focus in the hues of coloured ripples that were created as the atmosphere melted into the cosmos above. Then... blackness.
Time passes and the dust settles, long after the commotion of the crash and search has passed. The Decepticon construction teams have yet to arrive as one of the idle communication towers that survived the crash begins to shift and whir, unfolding into... Soundwave!
Soundwave pauses for a moment, analyzing all the vast amount of data that his new form has recorded since the crash, a task that requires more of Soundwave's attention than he cares to give at the moment considering the fact that he acting alone, deep in hostile territory. But Soundwave's precious, life-giving spark is not yet familiar with the working of its new body and the processes are taking time, a point of concern for the Decepticon communicator. A spark-transfer is a dangerous endeavor at the best of times. Undergoing such a delicate procedure while under attack and spiralling to the ground in a plume of flame is less-than-ideal circumstance for a transfer to take place in. Soundwave must give his new body undue attention which takes time; time that he may not have.
As he scans the data through his internal processing systems, Soundwave surveys the landscape devastated by the crash. His ship was practically blown to atoms, a fact that owe credit to the destruction protocol that Soundwave initiated before he underwent the spark-transfer. The system worked perfectly, destroying any discernible evidence that the ship was made by the earth-bound Decepticons. The defense/destruct protocol also was the reason that Soundwave had survived the impact, jettisoning an escape capsule at precisely the right moment. The walls of the heavily armoured escape pod were armed with an acid lining that reacted on impact. The system was orchestrated with such precision that the acid successfully devoured the walls but had lost its acidity by the time it got to the newly awakened Soundwave who was able to step out from his melted confines and disguise himself in plain sight using his new body.
The Decepticon communicator was pulled from his thoughts and analysis at the detection of approaching ship, a ship that Soundwave was certain would contain a construction crew. It was time for Soundwave to put his new body through another test. With a simple mental command, Soundwave's body folded, panels shifting and gears quickly meshing until he found himself in a new alternate mode; that of a four wheeled armoured vehicle. He quickly retreated from the sound of the incoming ship and rolled toward the horizon.

An amazing looking Soundwave from "Transformers." She was my first model for the "Scatter" light stencil (a.k.a. gobo) on. I liked the look of it and will use it again at some point.
Cosplayer: Syd
Soundwave works alone on a starship created in secret by the earthbound, Cobra-made Decepticons and has been doing so for more than three Earth years. On liftoff, the starship had sublight speed capability and to this day it is a fact that has remained constant. This has led to a surplus of time on Soundwave’s hands; time that has not been put to waste.
Once Soundwave fled Earth, by order of the mighty Megatron, he immediately got to work on several projects, the first of which was entering months’ worth of carefully crafted schematic data into an assembly computer. The assembly computer, a super-computer by even Decepticon standards, was a computer capable of near endless multitasking. Its primary task was to create a secondary propulsion device that would reveal the location of wormholes in space. Once a wormhole was located, the propulsion device would draw from it the energy needed to open a ‘warp gate’, instantly transporting Soundwave’s ship to a point theoretically thousands of lightyears closer to Cybertron. A device such as this would use tremendous amounts of energy, far more than the starship was capable of carrying. To resolve this problem, Soundwave built in a power source that used the same technology that Megatron would use to connect with the antimatter held within blackholes when utilising his fusion cannon. This was a very dangerous task, so calculations would be slow and cautious as Soundwave had no intention of becoming stardust on his journey.
Did slightly cheat and increase the exposure level of this one in Photoshop, but really like the combined effect of the halo behind me and the soundwave-like patterns at the sides.
Soundwave made a series of revelations and confirmations that surprised him further while cloaked, hidden in the darkness of space. Soundwave discovered that Megatron, the son of Soundwave's own longtime commander, was in firm control of the planet. Soundwave was already aware of this fact, but to see the level of Megatron's complete and utter dominance of the planet first hand was something else altogether. Soundwave was surprised to learn however, that Gigatron and his fellow Destrons still occupied Cybertron, despite Megatron's rule. Megatron continued to allow the Destrons access to the planet and its resources, but Soundwave could not find any leads as to why.
Soundwave was also somewhat pleased to discover that Megatron had also allowed the Decepticons to continue their independent existence in day-to-day life on the surface. Yes, hordes of newly (and constantly) constructed Vehicons scoured the streets, but the Decepticons, the most influential of which Soundwave was familiar with, were allowed to maintain independence. Soundwave was relieved that the Decepticons continued to thrive under the Chosen One's rule, but he was certain that they were all enjoying their independence on borrowed time.
Soundwave continued his analysis and work on his upgraded body progressed... until it stopped. Soundwave froze at his computer when all incoming data simply ceased; his orbital surveillance had been discovered! He frantically checked his onboard systems, rapidly scanning for any information on his own discovery that he could find but he found nothing. The sensor arrays on his ship were being jammed and with it, Soundwave knew that it was only a matter of time before his ship would be discovered, cloaking system in tact or not would make no difference. The sheer volume of Vehicons that Megatron had at his beckon call made Soundwave's physical detection a certainty. He had no time to lose.
The Decepticon communicator powered his ship's thrusters and put rerouted all non-essential power to his shields. His ship began to move when a feeling ran over him, something akin to the sickening sensation that a human feels when his stomach sinks at the thought of facing overwhelming odds. As his ship surged forward, invisible to the naked optic, Soundwave could see not thousands but millions of airborne Vehicons take to the sky in search of an intruder. He managed to feel some degree of confidence, no matter how slight, at the fact that he was certain that he would remain invisible to the airborne Vehicon hordes through his decent. Suddenly an alarm forced his attention elsewhere, just for a moment. The alarm system was telling Soundwave that his new body was ready, a body that was absolutely crucial to his survival on Cybertron's surface! He was now faced with a decision. All available energy was flowing to the ship's shields, but a Spark-transferal, obviously listed as a non-crucial expansion of energy, would require energy to be redirected from elsewhere! The only system Soundwave had that could currently be sacrificed was the cloaking device. Not only would Soundwave's precious lifespark be vulnerable through a transfer but the ship would clearly be seen by the scouring Vehicons as it entered the Cybertronian aerospace. He had to quickly weigh the odds and decided that his present body, capable of an alternate form that was merely a satellite, would mean that his detection would be unavoidable and his death would be imminent. Soundwave had to risk the spark-transfer!
From his control console, Soundwave made the necessary adjustments in energy allocation and a moment later he was completely visible! His ship rocked as it hit the Cybertronian atmosphere but his forward shields held. The Spark-transferral system was online and receiving appropriate power, but time was running out. With the coordinates of a desired landing zone entered into the navicomputer, Soundwave left the flying to the autopilot and ran to the transferral machine.
