A Sound Garden (1982 by Doug Hollis).... from my visit to the NOAA Art Walk adjacent to Magnuson Park in Seattle, WA.
Listen to the audience chiming in with a cascading "A-a-a-a-ah" halfway through, after Maria sings "The hills fill my heart / WIth the sound of music." You can hear me laugh a couple of seconds later. Embarrassingly, that is also me coming in with a flat "...it hears" right at the end.
For his work at The Substation in September 2012, sound artist Joel Ong will create an installation featuring an array of kinetic sound wagons that move about in the gallery. The wagon is not only asound source but also actively receives input from its environment to subtly alter the acoustic environment. This installation allows sound and space to become gateways to multiple narratives by developing notions of space and identity while at the same time invoking and composing with the resonant frequencies of the Substation gallery’s unique architecture. In so doing, the act of listening becomes less of a sidelined activity and more of a focused presence that demands its own time and space.

"Sound Mirrors" also known as "Acoustic Mirrors" at Denge near Greatstone and Dungeness. This is a former RAF site where in the late twenties and early thirties, experimental buildings were built to provide early warning of aircraft reaching Britain. The "ears" were designed to capture sound.
You can only get close to the Sound Mirrors on a couple of days a year. When we visited, a Sony crew were filming some kind of promotional video.

Bilingual Baby Cell Phone in Wooden Box with Volume Control. Wood is laminated oak, some parts are chipped almost worn looking, but adds more character. When the button, is adjusted the sound becomes unidentifiable, and difficult to draw inferences on what it might be.
There are many kinds of sounds and new ones, created every single day. It is simple, impossible to listen to them all in one lifetime. Being original is the most sought-after sound. This search for the hidden sounds, not yet discovered, has brought me to the development of Sound Sculptures and learning the dimension of sound. To view, the extremes of musical noise and how they relate to the organic sounds found in wooden instruments mix concepts in ways, never thought of before. I wondered at one point if the universe will ever run out of sounds and now realize the is just no way it can ever happen.

Tijdens de koude oorlog stegen dagelijks met veel gebrul Amerikaanse straaljagers op van Vliegbasis Soesterberg. The Sound of Freedom noemden omwoners het overweldigende geluid.
