This Samsung 250 GB solid state drive replaced my Seagate Barracuda 1TB 64MB Cache 7200 rpm 3.5-inch internal disk drive because I wanted to speed up my computers boot time. It is used to just store the operating system files. I have a Seagate Desktop SSHD 2TB 64MB Cache 7200 rpm 3.5-inch internal disk drive to store everything else. My computer now boots up very fast.
I also forgot to change the SATA controller mode from IDE to AHCI.
I had to open the RUN dialog box by right-clicking over the far left-bottom corner of desktop, selecting the Run option and then typing MSCONFIG and Enter.
Clicked on Boot tab, check the Safe boot box, and click OK to restart the computer.
After restart, got into BIOS settings by pressing Delete, change the hard disk mode to AHCI, save settings on exit and reboot. Windows will now boot in safe mode.
Run MSCONFIG again, go to Boot tab, uncheck the Safe boot option and click OK to restart.
I did not have to do this on my Sony VAIO laptop. After I installed the SSD and checked, I discovered it was already in AHCI mode.

Christmas in July heheh! I built my last computer almost to the day...in 2005! It still runs...just reeaaalllly slowww... Anyhoo, I've always enjoyed building my own workstations.

Intel Core i5, ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, Radeon HD 6870, Corsair Vengeance 8 GB and HX 750W, WD 2 TB and Intel 160 GB SSD, Lite-On SATA DVD, Cooler Master Hyper 212+ and 690 II case. IMO the Hyper 212 is knda cheesy...and I won't be overclocking anyway, so it's going back.

I was tired of needing to connect an external drive to my MacBook to access my image archive, and was planning to buy a 1TB drive to swap with my Apple-supplied 320GB. Then I came across the MCE OptiBay adapter that makes it possible to swap out the MacBook’s built-in DVD burner with a second drive.
I now have 800GB of storage in my MacBook, split between a speedy 160GB SSD drive and a regular 640GB hard drive. Great success!

While getting my new Solid State Drive set up in the new gaming PC I built was quite an ordeal (that at one point resulted in Windows telling me it wasn't genuine!) I gotta say that now that it's working, it's really quite snappy!

Finished! Look at all that open space. Case is a bit large, but the air flow will be excellent. No tweaking. I did not hot rod the system at all. I did do some optimization of course...turned off some items in the BIOS that weren't needed. Other than that everything is factory default and I'm see a Windows Experience Index (WEI) score of 7.6!

The motherboard has onboard video from Sandy Bridge GPU. So a separate graphics card is optional, depending upon needs. There is 512 MB assigned to video. If you run dual-monitor mode then RAM is set to 64mb in the BIOS.
Must be something special when the distributors organise Batman to be your courier. Can't wait to start playing with - reviewing - the new Crucial M4 512 Gbyte Solid State Drive ...
