The project is a 4.5 kw solar array and carport, combining the two functions in one. There was a need for three covered parking spaces as protection from the harsh summer heat. Simply placing the panels on the roof would also have caused complications with roof maintenance over the years. With the combined solution, we chose the Sanyo PV panels, which are translucent, providing a beautiful pattern, and filtered light below. The main structure was welded in a metal shop, and lifted into place, with the secondary structure welded on after. This process was the fastest, and by far most precise way of assemblage. The whole project was constructed and wired in two weeks, minus painting and tree trimming.
a spectacular solar halo at dawn at the weekend with misty high cloud given enhanced depth by a corel equaliser. (Hues and forms are totally natural. )
Day 4, October 2, 2013. The conduit is being directed to this area behind the garage where all of the electrical resides. Final wiring will be the last act of the installation. The box on the left is the original main circuit breaker for the house; the box to the right of it is the manual cut-off switch; the box to the right of the cut-off switch is a sub-panel to handle the power from the solar panels and the box on the extreme right is the inverter that converts the direct current (DC) from the solar panels to alternating current (AC) that is used by the house.
Highly energy-efficient home meeting LEED standards.
Double roof system insulated with soy-based foam, autoclaved aerated concrete exterior walls and metal frame (oil free) interior walls, 6kw PV system and solar hot water system with greywater reclamation...and many more features.

This is a cell phone pic, taken next to my camera on the tripod. Taken 8 minutes after maximum eclipse. Here in Philadelphia, the eclipse was about 80 percent.
Total solar eclipse of 11th August 1999, not sure of the exposure time but probably about 1/30s onto Fuli slide film (ISO 400)

The second solar panel arrived today, shipped from China. It will power another XO laptop in my classroom. Lincoln inspects, and approves.

La Kuka es un refugio ecosostenible que se encuentra en armonÃa con el paraÃso natural que lo rodea en el pacÃfico colombiano. Habitaciones amplias y únicas ofrecen privacidad, comodidad y tranquilidad total a nuestros huéspedes. EnergÃa alimentada 100% por paneles solares.
For this Solar Paper print I printed the digital negative with a the clarity slider in Lightroom set far higher than I normally would. (The clarity slider was set to about 60.) This technique makes a real difference... I think these last two prints are the first ones which were reasonably satisfying. I think I'm on root to making some good Solar Paper prints now! (The exposure was about 1 hour and 10-20 minues, and again these print have had no contrast or brightness adjustments.)

These photos are untouched. They were taken just before 10am in Yellowknife in 2005. That is where the sun is at 10 am in Yellowknife at 10 am in January. It was probably less than -30 degrees C out too.
A solar pillar is quite unusual and easy to loose. It is created by the reflection a sunlight on the horizontal face of ice cristals. So, a quiet atmosphere is needed in order that this cristals stay parallel to the horizon

November 3rd, 2013. Agüimes, Gran Canaria. First batch taken with Canon 350D, solar filter and 250mm photo lens. Second batch taken with newton (f:750mm). Cloudy day, but could enjoy most of the eclipse anyway.
Whist at the International Astronomy Show we bought our newest piece of kit! Sky-Watcher SolarQuest (goto) tracking mount!
It will be ideal for observing sunspots, solar eclipses, solar surface details and the transit of inner planets across the Sun!

Activ Solar constructed Ukraine's first large-scale Photovoltaic power plant 7.5 MW Rodnikovoye Solar Park in February 2011. The power plant is built near the town of Rodnikovoye, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) away from Simferopol, the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The total number of solar modules installed reach about 33,800 on a total surface area of approximately 15 hectares (37 acres)

Solar array, Solar Cafe, Kirch-zarten, Black Forest, Germany. Well worth a visit, even though a tad pricey! H.H., Av..
A neighbor hooked us up with some solar hot water gear. This giant
water tank has a internal heat exchanger that was designed for a solar
hot water setup. We also received two hot water panels.
In summer the solar collectors give more energy than these buildings need and then they give energy to the district heating system. In winter it´s not enough and then the buildings are heated by the district heating system. Well insulated buildings with 36 cm insulation in exterior walls and 50 cm insulation in roofs. The apartments are designed to need 54 kWh per sqm and year for heating and hot tap water and the solar collectors will produce 58 kWh per sqm apartment and year - plus energy regarding the heating.
