My escape is at Big Bear Lake, CA. A big contrast from the hustle and bustle of downtown San Diego. Big Bear Lake is about a two and a half hour drive from SD and is 7500 feet
above sea level. Originally from the south, I miss the seasons and Big Bear Lake takes me back there. Just yesterday we had snow up here while back on the coast it was in the upper 60's.

Giving Nik Software HDR efex Pro 2 a test run. I'm not big into HDR, but sometimes it's just kinda necessary (in small amounts). Now that I've got an awesome tripod of awesomeness, it's time I learned to embrace it.
Also thinking it might be time to leave my beloved CNX2. I love it. I wish they would upgrade it and fix all the problems with it and maybe give us a few more features, but it's been YEARS since NX2 was released, there's been no news from nik software of any intention of upgrading it, and their newest versions of the plug-ins aren't even compatible with NX..... sigh....
Testing CS6 with the nik software plug-ins now to see if I can make it close enough to NX2 to convince myself to make the switch.

Textured HDR shot of the Thailand Wat located in Buriram. This Wat was constructed by Cambodians in Thailand's territory a very long time ago. How long? Well you can do the research on that, I'm just the photographer. I added some textures to this image, but after processing the image a few more times, the texture seemed to have disappeared. Oh well... I really wanted to make this Thailand Wat a cool picture with some noticeable textures, but this don't look all to bad.

An interesting take on Red Sonja.
I feel a bit conflicted regarding her. No, not because of her costume - which was well done - but she was there trying to sell prints, calendars, et al yet I was not purchasing anything. Not because the images weren't good (they were actually quite superb) but I was on a budget and could barely afford to purchase two enamel pins that I did end up buying. And I get a bit tongue-tied around attractive strangers so there's a bit of social awkwardness and embarrassment on my part.
I used Nik Software'sColor Efex Pro - Pro Contrast / Dynamic Skin Softener and Dfine filters on this photograph.

This one is a bit different for me. And I like the effect and story it tells.
Hats off to Liz for putting up with my bouts of creativity... or insanity... it could go either way some days to tell you the truth.

6. Mark/Space Notebook. Syncs via Missing Sync for iPhone with Fliq Notes for iPhone. Contains notes and information that I carry around that goes back to my Palm times, even pre-Tréo.
7. Evernote - Industry standard notes application. Text, voice, pics, PDFs. All this synced between Macs, PCs, iPods, iPhones, you don't even need to install the application, a browser plugin or email submission will do.
8. Splash ID. Passwords, logs and other sensitive or plain personal information. I am a happy returning customer from my Palm devices. I even migrated my database from those times.
9. Whether you write a personal journal or a blog, or even a novel, this jewel from Mariner Software will be a perfect tool for you.
10. Before Apple realised what a huge mistake it was to leave out a voice note taking software from the standard iPhone apps, the best software around was iTalk. I am still using it. This is the desktop counterpart to the iPhone application, from which I have the paid edition (I like "my" developers well fed, driving nice cars and happy).
11. Delicious Library 2. Take your book or DVD, game, tool, toy or even clothes, bring up the code-bar to your iSight camera and... boom - it has been scanned and entered in your electronic inventory. A tool with an amazing usability, unlike most other software that claims doing the same.
12. DocumentsToGo for iPhone. Yet another software that has been delivering mobile computing users amazing quality for a while. Have been using this since almost 8 years. Not one paragraph has budged in formatting, not one character has changed when transferring documents back and forth and editing.
