Summertime is also music time in Helsinki.
Espan stage is in the centre of town where lots of summer concerts are held. It's close to the market place and the Helsinki Cathedral. It is at the end--or the beginning--of the lovely Esplanade park.
Inga Söder, 36 y/o, is a Finnish singer, a blogger and a singing teacher. She did her studies in Helsinki, but she lives in Oulu.
Inga has been singing for about ten years by now.
She gave a fabulous one hour long performance on Espan Lava in Helsinki.
After the concert I caught up with her to thank her for the wonderful music. She had a long queue of fans waiting for an autograph, nonetheless, she kindly gave me a minute of her time and posed for me.
I've sent Inga the photos with a few questions and she promised to write when she has time.
Thank you, Inga. Much appreciated !

Cloudy-morning sunrise, Dolly Sods Wilderness Area, Monongahela National Forest, Tucker County, West Virginia. Taken first morning of the Potomac Highlands photography workshop (Randall Sanger Photography); the workshop was a great experience for several reasons, but getting me -- not usually a morning person -- up and on the go, and to a venue such as this for sunrise, was a prime reason for my participating in the workshop.
This photo was taken several minutes before the preceding one, taken after the early color of the sunrise had faded. As with the backlit trees in the woods a few photos back, this is a "do-over" of an image posted earlier (below). This version was processed in Lightroom 5, which enabled me rather easily to bring out some foreground detail without losing color and detail in the sky.

it disgusts me that fashion week is able to shut down one of our most wonderful parks for two weeks during the most beautiful part of september. it also amazes me the number of times per year that they remove and replace the sod on this lawn for these events.

Söder Torn is a highrise building on Södermalm in Stockholm. The building was originally designed to be 40 floors, but when it was finished in 1997 it was only 86 meters high and contained 24 floors of apartments. Söder Torn is, shared with Skatteskrapan, the tallest residential buildings in Stockholm.
The building was originally designed by the Danish architect Henning Larsen, but he left the project in protest of the compromises made during the planning.

I enjoyed setting myself challenges with this layout and tried to create a diverse range of builds that still tied in with or payed homage to the buildings in the Thomas and Friends world.
The workshop was designed to match the roundhouse and looks similar to the sheds in the show. The windows in the roof look great and allowed me to use up some of the stockpile of clear doors I've managed to accumulate!

With plastic already killing our oceans, fish and seabirds it is about time we set about destroying our atmosphere with it too.

A mostly overcast week in Port de Sóller, Mallorca, whilst at home in Glasgow it was sunny and 24 degrees.
I can't get enough of Dolly Sods. More of the frozen rocky tundra sunrise that I caught last weekend.
When the first wave of pioneers arrived to claim their homesteads of free farmland, the only easily usable building material available was the earth itself. It provided adequate shelter from rain, wind and cold....actually well insulated. After their farms became established, most homesteaders built bigger houses, usually of lumber brought in by railroads.
