Oh what a night it was in the land of Swirl’n mic Mad-ness! As Swirve started their jazzy madness, the crowd found their way to the stage with their heads boppin’ and their fingers snappin’. As the last notes were fading away, hosts Johnny O & MH Clay got the show goin’ with an introduction of our featured poet Sebastian Paramo! Sebastian proceeded to unleash upon us a poetic feast! I recently realized that my right eye is all fuzzed out and blurry. I knew this, how could I not? I knew my right eye was no good, but I hadn't realized how that affected my photo snappin' prowess. I hadn't made the correlation.

I've been spoiled with modern cameras. They have built in dioptres. Older cameras? Well, they don't.

The shot above was taken with a Bronica SQ-A, sometime in 2011. Lovely camera; easy to use, great quality. It's a solid full frame medium format camera. Great to cut my teeth with.

It of course has no dioptre.

With the shot above, you'll notice the focus is a bit off. I was frustrated that my focus was off. It kept happening. I thought maybe it was the camera... It's easy to blame the tool for your failings. But the same thing happened with my SX-70, or my Minolta SRT-202, or my Canon AE-1, or... (this list goes on).

So what's a boy to do? I use my left eye now. Fuck my right eye.

This shot from the archives (reprocessed for the 21st century) comes from the computer engineering building on north campus of the University of Michigan. At the time, this building had just opened so I walked around with my camera snappin' pics like a foo.

Today I'm going to have breakfast at a diner, buy a headboard, and go to the drag races. You should expect to see some shots from one of those three. I'll let you guess which one :-).

New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes caught me snappin' his photo in the dugout during the Subway Series (Mets vs Yankees) at CitiField in Flushing, NY. Oops!!! :)
