The Oriental Small-clawed Otter (Aonyx cinerea), also known as Asian Small-clawed Otter, is the smallest otter species in the world. The full grown otters measure approximately 90 cm from nose to tail tip. The tail is 30 cm long. The otter can weigh up to 3 – 4,5 kg.
The Oriental Small-clawed Otter is found in mangrove swamps and freshwater wetlands of Bangladesh, Burma, India, southern China, Taiwan, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. It feeds on fish, frogs, crabs, crayfish and shellfish.
Due to ongoing habitat loss, pollution and hunting in some areas, the Oriental Small-clawed Otter is evaluated as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Taken this morning behind the old Marden school. You can see the smoke and lights of nearby Guelph in the background. Very warm sky with a touch of fog. I was so busy looking at the big full moon in the west, I almost missed the sunrise in the east.

(Info from Visit Conwy )....The Smallest House in Great Britain is just 72 inches wide by 122 inches high. It was occupied right up until May 1900, and ever since it has been visited and marvelled at by thousands of people from around the world. The last person to live in the house was a local fisherman called Robert Jones (who also happened to be 6 foot 3) - before Mr Jones an elderly couple lived there. The house may be small but it's extremely practical - there's just enough room for a single bed, a fireplace and a coal bunker.
It is one of the smallest monasteries of the Holy Mountain following however the traditional architecture, with the Katholicon in the middle, the Refectory on the first floor of the southern wing and many chapels as well as a built aqueduct which supplies the monastery with water. South of the Katholicon rises the defensive tower, while around the monastery there are several auxiliary buildings and the arsenal.
The Patriarch Jermiah I founded the monastery in 1540, in the place of an older monastery which was already in existence in the beginning of the 11th century. The Patriarch also caused to be built the Katholicon, which its frescoes as well as the refectory and the chapel of St John the Precursor with their frescoes. Several restorations have been made during the 18th century as well as presently.
The monastery's library possesses a large number of richly illuminated manuscripts and liturgical scrolls. Apart from the frescoes in the Katholicon and the refectory, in Theophane's group of pupils is also attributed the Dodekaorton icons, while the mosaic icon of St Nicholas is one of the rarest examples of this kind.
These last years, the monastery was almost entirely restored by the Archaeological Service.
A large number of active monks inhabits today the monastery and provides for the resatoration of the buildings as well as the hospitality to pilgrims and scholars.

American Red Squirrel.
Between 10 5/8 and 15 1/4 inches long. The smallest tree squirrel in its range. Rust-red to grayish red above, brightest on sides; white or grayish-white below. In winter black lines separate reddish back from whitish belly. Tail is similar to back color, but is outlined with broad black band edged with white. In summer its coat is duller. In winter has prominent ear tufts.
They are often abundant in any kind of forest: natural coniferous forests, pine plantations, mixed or hardwood forests; often around buildings.
They range throughout much of Alaska and Canada; in the continental United States south through the Rocky Mountain states and east from Iowa to north Virginia. They are also in the Alleghenies.

The smallest insects on the planet are parasitoid wasps, with sizes below 0.5mm.
The spezies shown here is (relatively) large, about 1.5mm in size.
For even smaller ones, check out my album: Trichogamma
The species shown here is ovipositing in its host, e.g. a caterpillar. The wasp larvae develop inside the living (and still growing) caterpillar. Typically, in the last larva stadium, it hatches from the host and continues feeding from the outside...
They play an important role in the ecological balance.
There are so so many spezies - for me impossible to track down.

Meet our smallest wild canid, the Swift Fox! About the size of a house cat - ie. half the size of a Red Fox and one quarter that of a Coyote - the Swift Fox is mostly nocturnal and therefore seldom seen. In all my years on the prairie, I have seen exactly one.
Extirpated in Canada throughout its range, mainly due to habitat loss, it has made a comeback in Saskatchewan and Alberta following a reintroduction program that began in the 1990s. Populations now appear to be stable. However, predation by coyotes, badgers, and some raptors, as well as poisoning from insecticide use in agriculture are negative factors affecting this species.
I was on foot for this shot, hiding behind a fence post. But I wasn't fooling anyone, and a moment later the fox retreated into its den. I left the scene immediately. In Pageworld, animals have the right to feel safe, and the right to privacy. Conservation status of swift foxes in western Canada varies from "threatened" to "endangered", depending on who you ask. Well... that's better than "extirpated"...

Pickering Place in St James's is the smallest public square in London, as opposed to the likes of Trafalgar, Leicester, Parliament, Soho etc. The largest is Lincoln Inn Fields incidentally.
The tiny Firecrest the Uk's smallest bird is never an easy subject to photo, but with the help of the Nikon Z9 and is super bird detection mode and fast frame rates, coupled with the lightweight Z400 f4.5 prime, it has made it a little bit easier to capture such a lovely busy little warbler by enabling you to catch and freeze the action during the brief fleeting encounters in the field :-)
Our smallest of terns, Least Terns are common around nesting colonies on open sand just above the high tide line. The tern here tries to win a female but she eventually turned him down. Or maybe he decided she wasn't good enough - there was no fish exchange here after lots of circling and toe tapping.
I went over to Cannock Chase to look for black Darters and only managed to find a single female, not sure If I am just to late in the year as there are normally lots on the pond.
Many thanks to you ALL for the views, faves and comments you make on my shots it is very appreciated.
Sunrise at one of the smallest beaches on Harris and Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, this place just has loads and loads of opportunities and compositions. I opted for a 206 second exposure to smooth out the sea and give surrealism to the clouds, it was always going to be 3 x1 crop.

Our smallest bird in the UK. This one bumped into the living room window, it was such a tiny little bump but it was laying on the ground and I can't just leave them there so I gave it a cuddle and it was off in no time :)
I have no clue what they are called but they are really tiny. As you can see, the moss is almost like a forest to them.

Have a lovely day, folks! :)

Or....how I discovered that one item I'm wearing was for a different body x__x
I wore this during opening time at Engine Room and judging by the response of folks IMing or camming me, I guess it certainly succeeded in catching your eye. The Ancient wings by Aii are really *chef's kiss* as you can remove the feathers (or leave them) for a large variety of different looks. There's even little gems and chains. The Maw head by Cryptid is certainly...toothy and teaming it with a hood or hat seems to work very nicely with it. The crow on my hand by Apika is animated and resizable and has Spanish/English versions.

I never get tired of watching hummingbirds. This is a species that I don't see often and have never been able to photograph. As the smallest hummingbird in the U.S., they are easily intimidated by other hummingbirds. I still hope to photograph an adult male someday, but I was happy this bird stuck around long enough for me to capture a few images.
