Gainsborough Ravine, Toronto On 19 Nov 2020

Another ravine fragment of the Small's/Tomlins Creek system in Toronto's east end. Once part of the old Toronto Golf Course, redeveloped for housing in the 1910s. The ravine saw a lot of dumping of ashes and rubbish from the 1920s onwards. Now it survives as a ravine fragment with a short surface watercourse.

Not on my own survey patch unfortunately but nice to see half a dozen or so a couple of miles away, flying in the brief sunshine the other day. This is a male, which I saw mating.

I took this shot of a Small Copper Butterfly today. They're only tiny, but quite stunning.

it was very funny to see the shock and consternation this caused the Hampstead Heath Sunday walkers. I was on my bike so I rode straight through it.
