NL: Jægerspris slot is een slot in de Deense plaats Jægerspris en is rond 1400 gebouwd. Het slot is sinds 1400 diverse malen uitgebreid en was voor het grootste deel van zijn bestaan in het bezit van het Deense koningshuis.
In 1673 kwam het slot in het bezit van Vincents von Hahn die het slot in 1677 zijn huidige naam gaf. Voor 1677 heette het slot Abrahamstrup. Men vermoedt dat het slot is vernoemd naar Abel, de zoon van koning Valdemar II (1170 - 1241). In 1679 kwam het slot in het bezit van koning Frederik IV van Denemarken, die er zijn zomerhuis van maakte.
Toen koning Frederik VII van Denemarken in 1863 stierf kwam het slot in het bezit van zijn vrouw Louise Rasmussen (beter bekend als Grevinde Danner). In 1867 zette Grevinde Danner een kinderopvangtehuis op in de voormalige cavalerievleugel.
Een half jaar voor haar dood in 1874 besliste Grevinde Danner dat het slot na haar dood gebruikt moest worden voor de opvang van arme (wees)meisjes.
Tegenwoordig bevinden zich in het slot een museum en een sociaal opvangtehuis. In verschillende andere gebouwen elders op het landgoed Jægerspris bevinden zich ook sociale opvangtehuizen.

Jægerspris Castle (Danish: Jægerspris Slot), in Jægerspris on the Hornsherred peninsula west of Copenhagen, is a Danish manor house. It has belonged to the Danish monarchs for most of its history which dates back to the 13th century. In the 1850s it became a retreat for King Frederik VII and his morganatic wife Countess Danner, who sought refuge there to escape the controversy their marriage had caused among the establishment in Copenhagen. After the king's death, Countess Danner turned it into an asylum for women.
Today the castle serves as a historic house museum and is also noted for its park.
Somewhere in the Desert Southwest region of the USA? Nope. Part of an intriguing little canyon-system, a few kms south of the Swiss capital.
Another stretch of slot canyon enters (exits?) lower right center.
We heard that this was a particularly colorful area of Valley of Fire, and colorful it was.
Waterhole Canyon, Page, Arizona
I'd not visited any of the famous slot canyons that inhabit extreme northern Arizona and southern Utah before, and on this trip, decided to rectify that neglect. I decided to opt for the less famous Waterhole so as not to be tripping over a throng of fellow photographers. As it turned out, I was the only one on this guided tour (the only way to access these canyons owing to the profound stupidity of those who would deface these wonders). My guide was nothing less than excellent--personable and well familiar with the terrain. He pointed out a number of photo-worthy scenes that I would have missed otherwise. The canyon itself was beautiful--though by the end, it was clear why Antelope Canyon is the more famous attraction--it's simply more spectacular . . . if the numerous photos I've seen are to be believed. Next time, I'll opt for Antelope--and try to avoid tripping over other tripods.

Bright overhead sunlight, reduced to a peephole from this vantage point, reflects off the erosion-carved, scooped-out contours of a section of Secret Canyon near Page, Arizona.
Het Slot Haamstede is een oud kasteel dat ligt in het dorp Haamstede op Schouwen-Duiveland. De beroemdste bewoner van dit slot was Witte van Haamstede, een bastaardzoon van graaf Floris V. De donjon van het slot stamt uit de dertiende eeuw. In 1525 werd het slot door brand verwoest, maar de donjon bleef behouden.
Een donjon is een middeleeuwse versterkte woontoren, al dan niet gebouwd op een motte ( dit is een aangelegde aarden heuvel ). De eerste donjons waren van hout; later werden ze gebouwd met stenen uit een steengroeve of in baksteen .
Op het sloteiland zijn zelfs sporen van de Romeinen en Noormannen aangetroffen.

Oneonta gorge is a slot canyon perpendicular to the Columbia River Gorge. The strem spans from canyon wall to canyon wall, and while only ankle deep in most places, it does get up to your waist even in dry seasons!
I will be traveling and then moving over the next days. May not be able to post much for a week or so but will try to comment on your pics as much as possible.
Remembering a time when people sent so many letters, the Post Office designed the A380 of post boxes, which tended to be in cities. Photographed twelve years ago, this one additionally gave directions to an adjacent post office, should you need to restock on 3d stamps.

We don't have time to get here on all of our workshops, but it's always a pleasure when we do. Note everyone is up for the short hike, and of course we have to avoid days when there's a chance of rain in the mountains uphill.
Technically it's probable a natural bridge.
