Unlike Australia, almost every house in Malaysia has a secure gate and barred windows. Mind you, my family never experienced any breakins, but I guess that was due to the precautions taken by my parents.
This is a Beech C-45 Expeditor. The C-45 was the military version of the famous Beech 18, also known as the Twin Beech. I took this shot in 1995 at McConnell Air Force Base here in Wichita. This classic and many others were on display as part of the visit of the "Save-A-Connie" Lockheed Constellation tour. Four years later in 1999 this C-45 was heavily damaged in a landing accident on a runway that was covered with patchy snow. The pilot lost control and the plane veered off the runway and plowed 400 feet through snow 8 to 12 inches deep. It eventually nosed down and continued to skid for another 25 feet. The good news is that the "Beech Baby" underwent a complete restoration and returned to flying status. Part of the rebuild even included a new version of the "nose art". The updated art is more colorful and sports more stylish lettering. I only took one shot inside this plane, but that slide is really dark and hasn't responded very well to my "rescue" efforts. I'll keep tweaking it and maybe it will come around. "Beech Baby" was built right down the road from me at the Beech Aircraft plant here in Wichita in 1943.

The red-eared slider is native to the Midwestern United States and northern Mexico, but has become established in other places because of pet releases, and has become invasive in many areas where it outcompetes native species. The red-eared slider is included in the list of the world's 100 most invasive species.
This is a fundraiser for the Calgary Food Bank. All these sculptures, based on the theme of Dr Seuss, were made of non-perishable food items purchased by the competing teams. All the items will be sent to the Calgary Food Bank for distribution to those in need...
This is an attempt at a stereoscopic image, which can generate a 3D effect, if you view it cross-.eyed at a certain distance. How much distance and at which size it works best may vary. At the regular flickr view on my screen, the viewing distance needs to be around 80 cm or more for me to work properly. Don't know anything about the specifics and the original images were not created with that purpose in mind, so they may be far from ideal.

I noticed the first wild Strawberry plants "Fragaria vesca" in flower in a local hedgerow, it must be Spring. Processed using Topaz Glow "Liquify I" effect HSS!

So this was one of those fluke pictures taken during a friend's kid's birthday. But I like it a lot because it's like the progression of how to go down a slide (in case you didn't know)... Anywho, yeah, wasn't planned like that and almost got deleted but then I was like "Hmmm... what if I can't get the three babies to sit together for a picture, at least I'd have one with them all in it!" (uh, to explain the three babies would be Reese (Billy & mine), Brenden (Billy's BFF Brandon's) and Jovie (Billy and Brandon's other buddy's) -- they were all born within a 2 month span).
School starts tomorrow so I'll be trolling flickr like an 80s slasher flick villian during the day again...
Here is another very old slide taken in 1958. My Dad shot this during a vacation we took that summer. This is in Noel, Missouri. Noel is in the far southwest corner of that state and situated on the Elk River. This town is considered the "canoe capital" of the Ozarks. It's well known as a great place for "float trips" down the Elk River and its tributaries the Big Sugar Creek and Indian Creek. One of the natural features of the area are the overhanging bluffs along U S Highway 71. I especially love the tree on the very edge of the bluff. As a kid In 1958 I thought it looked like a Christmas tree waiting to be decorated. I've found more recent photos of this spot on the internet, and in a few of them the tree appears to still be there. But, of course, it looks much more weathered than it did in 1958. I still remember Dad pulling over to the side of the road to take this shot.
