I've recently come up with an easier method that doesn't hurt my shoulder for slicing the crystallized ginger. I can't believe I never tried it before.
Caraselle Grip Slicing Guide protects your fingers and awkward foods such as tomatoes, onions, peppers & boiled Eggs.
the end result. just one third filled me up. quite doughy but very tasty. not bad for a first try. :o)
My new MacBook Pro is quite possibly the greatest thing since sliced bread. I love it!
11-5-07 --Okay. Update time...I have since sent this one back. It had a dent in the bottom of the case. I want it to be perfect. Well, the sent me a new one, and it was working great UNTIL mac osX leopard showed up. It crashed the sh!t out of the mbp....In some strange twist of fate, FedEx re-routed the old one back to my door by mistake. I took it, and called apple. They gave me a $200 break and are sending me a new copy of leopard...So I am nowback on the one pictured here, dent and all.
Here's a micro comic I just drew while waiting to be tested at a laboratory this morning. Kind of weird, and slice of life, but fun to do.
Here's a good little write up on the situation...

These heads were displayed in the open space in front of the Erwin Schrödinger institute (Erwin-Schrödinger-Zentrum of Humboldt Universität). I didn't pay much attention, but I swear the slices rotated over time. If anyone knows if they do rotate - and asynchronously, let me know in the comments.

I used some Hero Arts and Close to My Heart Stamps for this page and lots of Cricut and Slice cartridges. For more info see my blog:
Thanks to jwill, Superglue is helping my thumbs heal. Both of them were sliced, this one the worse. We were going to a wedding on Sat. Nite so I thought we should eat a light supper before going. I sliced an apple with one of those dandy apple slicers. The bottom of the apple didn't slice through, so I pushed it, first with one thumb, that wasn't enough, so again with this thumb. Thus - I didn't learn by my mistake and I was in a big hurry. Had to sit down and be quiet for about 30 minutes to get it to stop bleeding. Had it not been for the wedding I would have been in an immediate care center. This thumb needs special attention because the lymph nodes are compromised. It seems to be healing well however with Neosporin. My nails were freshly painted for the wedding in the color "Toast the Couple" Isn't that smultzie!
