Ricoh Diaries

I now own a Ricoh GR III Diary Edition and this collection of images were mainly taken in Jpeg format with various recipes which can be found at ricohrecipes.com

I was headed to the Yolo Wildlife Area Wednesday morning and saw this sunrise shaping up in my rearview mirror. It became a race against early morning commute traffic, which i barely won. I screeched to a halt immediately after entering the wildlife area, mounted the Tokina 11-16mm, and caught the peak of color. 2 minutes later, you would not have known this sky had happened.

This week's theme: Slices of Food.

A sliced orange, a complementary circular motif to the blue plate.

slices of cooked pork next to a jug of stock

a joint of pork drizzled in extra virgin olice oil was slow cooked on low for a few hours in the slow cooker.

once cooked it was removed, sliced, boxed and placed in the freezer for meals as and when.

the stock is a blend of the pork juices and extra virgin olive oil, boxed for the freezer to use as and when

i removed most of the fat on the outside of the joint before cooking to use today in making liverwurst/pate, first attempt. this fat would have been the pork crackling

i checked the pork in the slowcooker was cooked using a meat thermometer poked in the centre of the joint www.amazon.co.uk/KitchenCraft-Stainless-Steel-Meat-Thermo...

ps i'm not recommending any of these cookery adventures. they suit my personal taste. photographing to encourage myself to eat more healthily

www.flickr.com/groups/cooking_is_my_hobby/ helps to gather ideas and encourages me to continue with healthy eating by learning from others if you're interested in cooking, sometimes or a lot, or enjoy the cooking of others, you're always welcome ...

I was making an apple pie and noticed how the apple slices stuck to the knife when slicing. 4 was the most that would fit on the blade.

Pizza Slice Cream A quick build that I did with Micah for The Lego movie 2 awesome building buddies competition a little while back.

Rotterdam panorama. On the roof of 'Het Depot', Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

This is no trickery: the right side of the facade is made from mirror-glass and reflects part of the Rotterdam skyline. The left part is just the view.

Here is a view of this remarkable roof:

What was a slightly overwhelming hike up a small hill ended up getting even steeper. Looking for a view over that overpass from the previous shot, we skirted around the edges of the area, looking for a gap between the endless wall of buildings.

On this particular Hong Kong trip, other than alleyways and backstreets, I really wanted to capture more up-close details of people’s windows and the tower blocks they live in (without being intrusive). All those details in the window frames and pipe work- it’s the sort of thing that usually gets lost in my wide-angle photographs.

I know, I know. Hong Kong, again! I’m not wealthy- I just keep spending all my money on going there. I don’t think they say ‘Fourth Times the Charm’ but this trip was just that - a success. For almost the entire time I kept my mental health issues at bay. It was a good trip. After three disasters - It is really nice to say that.

Macro Mondays: "Slices"

The apple variety is Cripps Pink. One of my favorite snacks.

The image is about 7 cm (2.75 inches) on the long edge.

Tasty dried, candied orange slices from Trader Joe's. These are really good!
