Have fun and a nice day :)

Marilima Beach last March, Virac, Catanduanes. Catanduanes is known to have the largest annual rainfall in the Philippines so it's best to visit this place in April to May when it's summer or the dry season in the country. For surfers, however, the months of July to October are the best months.

I'm back north now and will sloooowly be getting back on flickr and round to see your latest, bit by bit.

Looking forward to reconnecting with each of you. :-)

Macro Mondays ~ Slices of Food

I started out with crackers, cheese, then strawberries, nothing was working well. The radishes were my last resort and there was something about the textures, color and earthiness that drew me in.

Happy MM to All :)

Ever since I came across this style of Portuguese pottery I have wanted to photograph some pieces little realising how great a challenge the reflections would be! by using my largest softbox a diffusion screen and placing the saucer about 2.5 meters away from the light I was able to get most of the way there, of course one of the basil leaves masks the main highlight!

My two choices are:

In Ice - Feb 15

Orange - May 31

But could also be Slices and Sidelit.

...and finally I’ve managed to get 30 mins of sole access to my kitchen for photography time away from the marauding gannets of the rest of the household!

This has been specifically framed to fit the 3" requirement rule.

Happy Macro Mondays and a very Happy New Year to you all! ✨

Trying new photography softwares. Messy situation...

(2025)

Recently a friend mailed me an article about time slice photography. I had never heard of it but it sounded like a cool technique. So I gave it a try with the skyline of my home town and spent 2 hours photographing. The processing turned out to be more complicated and cumbersome than I had anticipated but I'm pleased with the end result. I am sure I will be trying out this technique again in some future shots.

The only thing moving faster than Norfolk Southern train 15T on this evening was the sun. The Virginian led the freight train out of Allentown in the late afternoon and had a straight shot to Harrisburg. I did the math and figured there'd still be daylight on the Lurgan Branch so off I went to Lemoyne.

I was always bad at math, so I watched each patch of direct light slip away before the train arrived. The only place the sun touched the rails was this little slice off in the distance; luckily it was enough to paint the face of the cab as the train hustled west.
