Outside of his private garage in The Plains, Ohio, Ron Smith funnels sand into a sand blaster on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Smith used the sand blaster in order to remove fire-damaged paint off of the inner fender of a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline owned by his friend Bill Omen. Omen’s Fleetline caught fire in May of 2013 and needed extensive repairs, including a whole new engine and paint job. Smith helps Omen along with other The Plains residents restore antique and collectable cars. “Bill likes to talk like he does all the work but I’m the one actually doing it,” said Smith.
A freshly mowed lawn always looks so cleanly cut, yet when one looks at individual grass blades they are often torn. Does a torn grass blade regrow, or does a new leaf make up the new lawn growth?

Standing on the foreshore of the Thames, the work comprises of a sliced vertical section of an ocean going sand dredger. The original ship was reduced in length by 85%, leaving a vertical portion housing the ships habitable sections: bridge, poop, accommodation and engine room. The slicing of the vessel opened the structure, leaving it exposed to the effects of weather and tide. Conversion by Richard Wilson. North Greenwich peninsula, London
A new take on "bowl". A curvaceous back in black walnut or white oak is sliced through by a lacquered MDF shelf. Neither one can stand alone. But together their possiblities are endless.

Chocolate cake sliced up and ready to serve! This is the standard wedding cake thickness for the fondant icing, I prefer to roll it much thinner but the client wanted a thicker icing. The pink sugar lily makes a nice souvenir and keeps for ages!

A sore back, two blisters and about 50 slices of wood; not bad for an hour's work. All cut by hand with a bow saw too. DS2 had cut me about 100 a month ago with his chain saw, but unfortunately these all are now sporting a growth of black mould from being stored in the damp conditions in the Ranger tent. I'm going to dry these *thoroughly* before taking them to work and will store them in my caravan,
I use these at children's art and craft sessions to make wood badges or room name plates. I'll drill holes in them and the children like to decorate them with marker pens and thread a string through the hole.
It's a nice wee activity to do while they are waiting for the paint to dry when they are painting pebbles.
