I always wanted to make an updated version of the 2000 Slave 1 (7144). Bought most the pieces I needed, then LEGO released the Cloud City set.. and I just never really liked the Slave 1 in that set. So I ended up using the base from that and built a new top to resemble 7144 more closely. So I guess you could call it a Mod not a MOC

Technology becomes our master and we become its slave. I spotted the composition of these three mobile phone users but it took a widescreen 16:9 crop to really bring out the composition as I had envisioned. Personally I think it is a sad state of living when we spend so much time staring at screens instead of the world around us, thankfully my main subject has looked up away from the screen for a brief moment.

This time she means business!

This man was sitting outside a Pachinko parlour in the early Sunday morning. Twenty other men were also scattered around the parlour waiting for its opening. When the parlour opened at 10am, they all rushed in to find their favourite pachinko machines.

Here it is, one of my favorite ships from the SW universe. Some of my followers probably remember the olive green version I made 3 years ago and since then I always wanted to make a proper model of the ship.

Model consists of around 1500 parts, side wings rotate and lock in place, has some interior (small and limited space) but it actually has more interrior than the Lego UCS. Rear door opens to allow the minifig to access his seat that rotates from landed mode to flight mode.

Thanks Gatis for awesome photos!

In our modern lives, with tools for almost any task, it is quite easy to forget how things are actually done. After all, if the hard work is always handled by something or someone else, it is easy to become lazy, or to live with the illusion that everything is easy and doesn't require some investment.

This is a little observation I wanted to express through my image: the cook in that case is in a sense the slave of her mixer, and from another point of view, the mixer is also a bit her slave.

Technically, I had to create this giant mixer so that the scene would fit inside it. The real one is much smaller: I duplicated parts as needed to extend its volume. The castle photos come from a ruin (Ivry-la-Bataille) that was totally buried in the 15th century, and discovered about 50 years ago: it made for an interesting visit.

Last but not least, the eggs have not been wasted: the cake my wife cooked after that photo was yummy!

I was never really into the "Slave Leia" fantasy, but I've since changed my mind.

Back from the slave hunt.

Location: Stone Town, Zanzibar.

Description: For many years, Stone Town was a major centre for the slave trade. Slaves would be shipped in from mainland Africa and traded with merchants and porters from the middle east.

The main Zanzibar slave market was closed in 1873 and soon afterwards the Cathedral Church of Christ was erected on the site, its altar directly above the place where slaves were once whipped for offending their masters.

This pit of statues was built in memory of the estimated one million slaves which were bought and sold in Zanzibar during the 1800s.

Two of the many many many Slave Leias that you find each year at Dragon*Con.

I don't believe he has posted them yet, but my friend Tony waited around for the Slave Leia Photo Shoot and from what I saw, came away with some nice shots.

Building the UCS Slave1 was a lot of fun.

Die UCS Slave 1 zubauen war ein echtes Vergnügen.

And a custom version for the withe BobaFett.

The modell is not totaly finished yet.

I thought this was a clever idea and she did it very well (the snowflakes in her braid was a great touch) but I screwed up a bit.

I had some... issues with this photo. The non-flashed version looked better yet was flat in appearance. I ran the image through different filters in Nik Software's Color Efex which made the image pop to life... but her skin was now very grainy and pixelated. So another round of filters to soften her skin tones (Color Efex and PS Gaussian blur). Not my best work but I think I recovered it quite nicely.

Technology was supposed to connect us, but we are getting more disconnected.

Things are slightly out of whack when people are passing up photos with Slave Leia to get pictures of C3P0, but that's what was happening...

I can't overstress the importance of good grooming when it comes to Slave Leia costuming.
