With the car complete and a few test runs under my belt, a few oil spots on the driveway meant investigating a leak dripping from the overdrive area. Out with the seats, skuttle and gearbox tunnel for a closer look and sure enough oil was seeping from the selector rods where they exit the topbox. The compressed o rings that came out looked pretty good, so my fix was to double up with another ring on top of them to force a tighter seal. Time for a test run, but not before putting everything back as it was (pig of a job that took hours). Confident of success I was out for for a test run and returned to find.... more drips on the driveway - shit! Out with every thing again to reveal that leak #1 (that was now fine)had been dripping onto leak #2 where the main drive shaft exits the gearbox. The new oil seal ordered from Moss was not a tight enough fit to work. Isolating the prop shaft, and digging out the offending item it was down to my local seal supplier for something better. I should have made note of the part number and mentioned it hear, but in my haste I through it in and put everything back together for another test run - dripless at last.
