The 2019 Championship Play-off Final between Aston Villa and Derby County took place at Wembley Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday 27th May. Over 250 coaches brought fans to the game with over 20 different body manufacturers represented. I caught some of the arrivals and some of those in the various coach parking areas around the stadium.

No matter where I end up, I always seem to bump into a local operator's motor in some form or another, this being a classic example!!

Skansen Open Air Museum proved to be a great escape from the city (not that Stockholm is Tokyo exactly) and provided an opportunity to see a bit of rural Sweden in an afternoon.

From Wikipedia : "Skansen is the first open air museum and zoo in Sweden and is located on the island Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 1891 by Artur Hazelius (1833-1901) to show the way of life in the different parts of Sweden before the industrial era...

Skansen attracts more than 1.3 million visitors each year. The many exhibits over the 75 acre (300,000 m²) site include a full replica of an average 19th-century town, in which craftsmen in traditional dress such as tanners, shoemakers, silversmiths, bakers and glass-blowers demonstrate their skills in period surroundings. There is even a small patch growing tobacco used for the making of cigarettes. There is also an open-air zoo containing a wide range of Scandinavian animals including the bison, brown bear, moose, grey seal, lynx, otter, red fox, reindeer, wolf, and wolverine (as well as some non- Scandinavian animals due to their popularity). There are also farmsteads where rare breeds of farm animals can be seen."

A look in at Stratford-upon-Avon coach park today (Sat 14/12/2024) and the occasion of the Warwickshire town's annual Christmas Market. Last weekend was cancelled due to Storm Darragh passing through so it was good to see some December sunshine for the 38 coaches that turned up. Plenty of Santa's about but no sign of Shakey Spears.

I thoroughly enjoyed the morning I took this photo. I headed to The Skillion at Terrigal for sunrise while visiting there in August/September this year. Thankfully I had taken my gumboots with me and I just stood there while water flowed over them watching the waves coming in crashing against the rocky coast. I watched the sun come up giving rise to some awesome rays. What beauty!

A 370-mile round trip to see some coaches? Why not?!! An easy day trip to Sheffield today (10/01/2025) to see around 80 coaches bringing participants to the Young Voices Concert at the Utilita Arena.

I was rewarded with a very nice variety of coaches including a King Long XMQ6120C, a Neoplan Skyliner(!), Beulas Spica, Bova Magiq, Jonckheere Mistral and a Sunsundegui Sideral to name but a few. That's a good chunck ticked off my "coach types bingo card" for 2025!

You’ve experienced and continue to encounter so much difficulty, decay, harm and pain in your experiences and carry the awful effects of this within your body, mind and spirit. And you are working so hard, at a pace and in a way that is appropriate for you, to keep growing through when all the extreme adversity tries to destroy you.

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account

I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.

If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:

I don’t know what kind of rubbish my camera was playing at when it took this photo – it came out mostly black – but seen on 7.10.24 at Nottingham Road Long Eaton was a new Temsa coach thing that Skills have got.

I'll gladly take random coaches to spice things up a little, even if it's nowhere near the thing I really wanted to see. With one deck and many years less than what I'd have ideally been taking photos of, Skills Coaches smartly turned out Mercedes Tourismo BV71 HZA is seen at the Valley Road/Hucknall Road roundabout in Nottingham on 25.4.22

A bit of an oddity on South Sherwood Street on 19.2.18 - a Scania N113 doing a service bus run.

Usually, red ALX400s are dedicated to the Unite Students bus run by Skills, but occasionally one of their step-entrance fleet creeps on in place of a red bus.

With an army of Volvo Olympians at their disposal, it seems a bit of a fluke that East Lancs Cityzen W303 MKY put in an appearance.

When I said it's a service bus, it isn't strictly an open-to-all type thing like NCT's 34, but it's still a timetabled service that runs to a route so is definitely not a school bus or private hire run! I'm not sure where this leaves it on DDA grounds, but hey it's an old Scania in a city full of Scanias!

I seriously don't know why ELC put those top set of rear lights on, they look a bit silly.
