Landscape, Trees and Shrubs Practice

I have a real problem rendering landscape plants. So I've been promising myself to just concentrate on rendering plants and foliage on occasion. This is one of those occasions.

I started on the left page by practicing the "classic" foliage stroke. It's amazing how easy it is in some directions and almost impossible in others. (I need more practice -- perhaps filling a page of each direction.) Then, using Rendering in Pen and Ink by Guptill as a reference, I worked on some small scene renderings. All sketching on this page was done with a #0 Rapidograph (.35mm).

On the right page, I gave myself a reward and drew one of my favorite photos using a sepia Micron pen (.50mm). Then, I switched gears back to plant rendering, this time using a black Pitt brush pen at bottom right. I find the brush pen can create nice lines, but it is very hard for me to be precise with it. I guess more practice is needed, but I'm not sure it's meant to be used the way I'm using it -- seems as though it would be hard on the tip.

some old artwork 2008 - 2009

Evening sketch : Louis Blanc Street.

Croquis du soir : Bd Louis Blanc.

I lost myself with all these scans, so I go back:Day 11: Peugeot 404 flatbed still in the workshop. I admit that I was surprised and very happy with the result.

quick lunch time doodle, needed a bit of "me" time...always works!

I have a client who wants to see a pretty logo for his margarita company! He all ready picked out his favorite which is the first drawing so now I need to figure out how to turn this into a strong graphic logo! Should be fun….. I haven't drawn in years so these are really rough! ;-)

Sketch of the evening: Construction is underway next to the place where I work. This time a view from far, from a field.

That is what I have done today. Going through the "male nudity" pictures drooling and doodling.....

This picture are from 3 different drawings. I drew them separately on the used paper, and then scanned them. After that I played with them on the Abobe Photoshop.

gumleaves & gumflowers - revisiting some ideas from a previous drawing.

Last Saturday, a small tour around the new City Hall of Montpellier. China Ink and bucket, just for the pleasure of dipping .... Big sketch book 25 / 50 cm.

Alice in Wonderland sketch for my embroidery for the Hoop Up swap.

It's been age since I scribbled the unfriendly ghost - so I drew 3 of them to make up for it ;-)

I pass this old house every day, and am attracted by the shadows of the trees on its facade. On the right, a broader view.

So happy with my Christmas presents, that I drew them ... you might say that my beloved ones have guessed the focus of my desires of the moment.

From left to right: my Mom knit me a hat, a collar, and mittens to keep me sketching whatever the weather. 4 travel diaries in DVD, well done, and in which it is especially interesting to see the attitude of the artists, quietly drawing craftsmen, all kinds of people, from life... without embarrassment. The magnificent work of Emmanuel Prost, sketches of the Reunion island, thanks to Jean-Marc for the tip .... And the last jewel of Emmanuel Lepage, like a collection of sketches, from the simplest to the more elaborated boards, beautifully sketched characters, landscapes, boats, a feast of composition, using different techniques.

Here you go mate, al get it coloured as soon as.
