So, take a leaf from this poor old fellow and take it all in your stride!

This big tortoise that I spotted, was taking it very easy in his strides and reminds me, of a British television sitcom called: One Foot in the Grave!

This was a BBC comedy series: Which the series features the exploits, mishaps and misadventures of irascible early retiree Victor Meldrew, who, after being made redundant from his job as a security guard at the age of 60, finds himself at war with the world and everything in it.

Many thanks for your snazzy comments from you here, my good flickr friends !!!

Apologies for the plethora of lighthouse and Stanlow images atm.

Not long after visiting Penmon recently I heard 'Love and Marriage' or more specifically the theme tune to the 80's American sitcom of the same name on YouTube. How the algorithm decided I wanted to watch it directly after watching a Gary Gough vlog I've no idea.

The line 'You can't have one without the other,' has been my unwanted earworm for several days and that for some reason made me think of lighthouse long exposures.

So to try and shift this earworm here is the second LE of the three lighthouses I visit fairly regularly.

Guess that means a Talacre long exposure next if this damn thing doesn't shift soon.

And if I've passed it on as an earworm then I'm so so sorry!

Apologies for the poor title.

A day of celeb spotting yesterday. I took the dog for a walk around the marine lake at West Kirby earlier in the day and saw the now barrel chested former England and Liverpool footballer John Barnes walking up Telegraph Road in Heswall with a newspaper under his arm and a bag of goodies from the Shell garage.

I popped in to the butchers for a piece of sirloin after the dog walk and found myself stood next to Paul Brown who played 'Malcolm,' in the seminal late eighties/early nineties sitcom Watching. He was having the butcher coat some lamb leg steaks in minty sauce.

And finally Neil Fitzmaurice of Phoenix Nights and Peep Show fame sitting on the steps to the beach at Caldy watching the sunset.

Dad's Army is a 2016 British war comedy film, based on the BBC television sitcom Dad's Army, which was based on the British Home Guard during the Second World.

The Black Country Living Museum’s 1940s weekend, welcome all Visitors, to take a step back in time and immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of wartime Britain – with vintage vehicles, 1940s civilians, army personnel, iconic warplanes, the sound of air sirens filling the streets and a flypast from a Lancaster Bomber.

The characters that one can find around here; love to act out and dress up, to entertain you. Where you can just walk up to them and have a good chit-chat and then they willingly oblige you for having their photo taken!

Just love this place for its cool atmosphere and the golden opportunities of some cool candid photography,

of all sorts here!

Many thanks here, for your cool comments, my Flickr friends!

The subject matter doesn't (or shouldn't!) need any explanation other than these are some of my partner's hobby tools.

The title is a direct take from the 70s sitcom featuring one of the best characters of all time - Arnold. That said I have no idea if it has stood the test of time, but he certainly was an odd one!

For those of you who live or may have lived in The Great White North between the 60s to the 80s you've heard this song and may know it by heart.

Now this road is about as far away from Canada as you can get but for some reason it brought The Littlest Hobo to mind for me. I've never lived there, I know about The Littlest Hobo from an episode (Season 3, The Littlest Yarbo) of a great Canadian sitcom called Corner Gas:

This is my Chicago friends, Mikey and Nancy at the automotive museum. The truck is from the TV sitcom Sanford and Son. I'm sure some of you remember that one..:)

The night photos didn't come out as good as I would have liked. I forgot my glasses and tried to make some changes and some how changed it from Raw to Jpeg. So, I'll have to plan on doing that again.

For lovers of the long running British sitcom, Last of the Summer Wine, these are the steps alongside Sid's Café that features strongly throughout the series.

The series has been officially declared the world's longest-running television sitcom, airing continuously between Wednesday 4th January 1973 to Sunday 29th August 2010. Peter Sallis was the sole cast member to appear (as Norman Clegg) throughout the whole 31 seasons.

Anguillara Sabazia is a town in Lazio, central Italy, around 30 kilometers northwest of Rome. It nestles on a small cape on the coast of Lake Bracciano; its medieval center and its beach make it a popular destination for tourists. A two-part episode of the American sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond was shot in the town.

Smudge having a Victor Meldrew moment :) (a popular UK sitcom with the star being a grumpy old man) ... not that he's old being 2 .. but best start early as it's good fun speaking from experience

Since Lady B. (Eastern Bluebird) was requesting extra space and privacy for nest building yesterday; this is the one shot I managed to get while out with the camera. I had to go out and refill the feeding stations, otherwise I would have stayed out of her way altogether. Boy oh boy, Lady B can be a cranky beauty when she wants to.

As you can see Mr. C (Male Northern Cardinal) was very pleased when I placed peanuts on the palm stump. The old stump was removed but it was time to remove another palm that was interfering with the growth of oak one, so now I have a new palm stump to use as a feeding station.

One might belive that Mr. and Mrs. C. stands for male and female cardinal. Truly, that's a pretty good hypothesis. However, in my yard the cardinals were named after Howard and Marion Cunningham, from the TV sitcom Happy Days. The Fonz, also a character on the show, nicknamed the Cunningham's Mr. and Mrs. C. I'm not sure why, but the female cardinal reminds me of Marion's character. Therefore, I began calling her by that name and Howard received his name because he goes with her.

I hope your experiences today are pleasant. Happy snapping :)

For those of you who are big fans of the American comedian & actor, Don Knotts, there is no need to explain the title of this image. For the rest of you, here is the basic information you need. Don was a very successful entertainer from the 1950's through to the 80's, appearing in many sitcoms and movies. One of those movies, which I have seen, was The Ghost & Mr. Chicken. Premise: "A wannabe reporter decides to get the scoop on local ghosts by spending a night at a haunted house where there's been an unsolved murder."

What does the movie or Don Knotts have to do with this image? Nothing, really, except when I was going through my images from this photo shoot, I thought the willet in the background looked really ghostly and the memory of that movie title came to me in a flash. Chicken became Willet. Simple as that.

The photo shows a willet pair exhibiting their protective side. They came out on the road as I drove down it (slowly, as I was lookin for photo ops). Like godwits and some other wading birds, they seem to protest a lot even when their nest/youngsters are safely hidden in vegetation 30 or 40 meters away.

Ken & I are celebrating 20 glorious years together today! How fast the time has gone! Today has NOT been what either of us hoped for- so many things gone to chaos that it could be a sitcom episode! But love DOES conquer all!!

Completed in 1913, the 31 story office tower, with it's Hellenic architecture, was home to Union Central Insurance. The 5th tallest building in the U.S. when opened.

Coffee at Eleven, Elizabeth? Is a line from a famous British sitcom - Keeping up appearances.

It wasn't actually eleven when I made this but late afternoon. I had the unexpected pleasure of looking after my grandson this afternoon. Needless to say I was too busy to get a photo until he had left and I decided to relax for a few minutes with a coffee...two birds with one stone. Looking after a toddler is exhausting work but great fun.

- “Captain, it’s Wednesday”.

What a Week, Huh? refers to a panel from The Adventures of Tintin comics depicting characters Tintin and Captain Haddock that was recaptioned with a humorous exchange from a 2009 episode of the sitcom 30 Rock. The recaptioned panel gained significant popularity as a reaction image used to express tiredness and being overwhelmed, but is also used as a template for redraws. In November 2020, the Twitter gimmick account @whataweekhuh gained viral popularity.

Between October 17th, 1940, and October 18th, 1941, Belgian cartoonist Hergé had The Crab with the Golden Claws, the ninth volume of The Adventures of Tintin, published in the Belgian newspaper supplement Le Soir Jeunesse.[3] In the volume, the character Captain Haddock is first introduced, first shown procuring whiskey from his mate and drinking it alone in his cabin before Tintin gets in through the window and accuses him of narcotics trafficking (original panel shown below, left and center).

On June 21st, 2017, Tumblr gimmick account Incorrect Tintin (incorrectintin) combined the dialogue with the panel, with Captain Haddock complaining to Tintin about his hard week.

Here is a photo of some cool looking rocks from Northern Los Angeles. My brother scouted this spot, which is better known as Vazquez Rocks. Seeing this scene for the first time was like being on a different planet. This interesting formation of rock developed 25 Million years ago, and is a popular backdrop for filming movies and sitcoms. I'm glad we brought plenty of water with us because it was super hot!

This is the film set of the popular Canadian sitcom "Corner Gas". The set was never built to last but it lasted much longer than expected.

After the filming ended this place sat empty for several years. Then for a while it was open to the public as a gift-shop. That's when I visited and I feel pretty lucky about that fluke timing. The ground under this set was not ideal for building so the set was slowly sinking. Then on November 4, 2016 when the lease on the land expired, this iconic film set was demolished.

The bit of good news regarding Corner Gas is that the show has returned... this time animated.

I’m still exploring techniques to depict the grace and beauty of movement, especially the stunning aerobatics for birds in flight. So, if you are a regular visitor to my photostream:

1) I apologise for the multiple blurry bird photos I am inflicting on you

2) I believe there is medication that can help

3) If you have any suggestions for improvement, I’d be very pleased to read your advice

4) If you have a severe case of bad-punitis or in-growing sarcasm, I believe jotting them down in the comments field and pressing “enter” helps relives the symptoms. Left unchecked there is a danger you will become a sitcom script writer for the BBC. Heaven forbid!

The architecture of Tampines Street 45’s Blk 497 may seem a little different than the nearby other HDB blocks, with its taller than usual void decks and a design that may seem right out of a university block.

The atmosphere was eerily calm in contrast to the deafening noise of the traffic during the day - at this time of night, you can hear the primeval growl of the air conditioners. I took this shot in 2012 whilst wandering around Manchester photographing street art; at the time, I thought it looked staged with theatrical props for a TV sitcom:

- ladders

- bike

- wheelie bin

- pot plant

- back street café bar

who knows if it was, or wasn't.

With a vague idea of where I took it, and a virtual tour via Google maps, I think it's the alleyway underneath the Insituto Cervantes on Deansgate; this ties-in with Dimitri's restaurant next door.

The foreground bollard embossed and painted with the city's iconic bee symbol is a giveaway for Manchester.

Precious siblings Dagwood and Blondie Smith. He's mean but she puts up with him as best she can. Happy ScATsURDAY! from The Smith Clan of now only 9 in Central Florida.

PS: Blondie and Dagwood were an old comic strip in the 1950s and even a sitcom TV show for awhile.

Many of you will rightly associate these words with Dolly Parton, who wrote the song, but anyone of my age in the UK will probably be thinking fondly of a 1970s sitcom by Carla Lane, called Butterflies. The theme tune was sung by Clare Torry, who also - incredibly - was the voice on Pink Floyd's 'The Great Gig in the Sky' from the Dark Side of the Moon album. The contrast between the two styles is stunning.

Anyway, for what it's worth, this is my 'alternative' Valentine. Not a heart or a red rose in sight, you'll notice. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. :)
