My favourite shot from the Plano Balloon Festival (see set). We'd all gone on the second day, arrived around noon. We waited and waited until after 5PM before any action even happened. Then a couple hours of waiting and a couple balloons later, it was announced that due to high winds no more ballooons would take off. It was starting to get dark, and most people left. As we were about to leave as well, we saw this balloon being filled and we rushed near it. The long wait was well worth it, it gave me this picture! I took this shot lying down in a completely prone position below and just a few feet away from the balloon, looking up, as I felt the heat from the burners.
This is an HDR tone-mapped image, I did that to get detail both inside and outside the balloon as well as some color in the sky!
You can see the same ballooon in my friend Jhinuk's stream

Origami Face by Joel Stern from his book 'Animated Origami Faces'. This particular model is called 'The Singer' and looks to be singing when holding the sides while pushing in and apart again. A great fun model and book!
Ooit via gahetna.nl gevonden, maar de opgeslagen links werken niet meer... ik moet gaan zoeken of deze ook op www.nationaalarchief.nl te vinden zijn
This is the Singer 500A, which was a fancy machine in its day - the Singer company itself considered it "the greatest sewing machine ever built." Singer enthusiasts have nick-named it "The Rocketeer" because of its retro-futuristic styling. It can do lots of decorative stitches and can take a double needle for attractive top stitching. It's the machine my mother had when I was growing up. According to the serial number, this one was made in 1961.
