Just found this mixed in some digital photos from 2001. From the EXIF date and time I was able to track it to Iidabashi Station in Tokyo. CC Lemon is great in the summer.

Harper’s Bazaar August 007 ~ “The Simpsons go to Paris with Linda Evangelista” “Models”: The Simpsons, Linda Evangelista, and various designers with Illustrations by Julius Preite. Marge lets down her hair for Versace. Lisa gives up her pearls for Alber Elbaz. Homer dresses as Karl Lagerfeld. Selma & Patty in Viktor & Rolf. Maggie rides around in Jean Paul Gaultier’s Birkin Bag. Quite possibly the most incredible fashion spread i’ve seen (ok maybe tied with the Marie Antoinette Vogue spread?). To see the spread, see the pics below, and for some great animated versus reality pics of the dresses and designers.

Off the beaten track, down an old alley, at the delightfully numbered 38 1/2 Cornhill, is Simpsons Tavern. It was/ is a city institution and has been providing refreshments for local city workers and others, over many years.

It had a rough time during Covid and is currently closed during litigation with the landlord(s).

I used to go here, more often than I'd care to own up to, late '80's / to mid '90's. it still has dining booths reminiscent of a century ago. When the waitress asked if you wanted a sausage with your main course, the correct answer was 'yes'. Regardless of your food choice!

Charles Dickens and Samuel Pepys were apparently regulars...along with visiting every other pub within a 5 mile radius of the city! Although I think that Dickens, at least, was a likely regular. I really hope it re-opens. The sign still hangs proudly, against the ever increasing rise of the faceless glass and concrete.

Please make sure to read all the boring bits!

In appreciation of you all viewing my photos and making me feel oh-so-special I decided to throw a little contest. I was thinking I would have you guess the number of dolls I own and whoever guessed closest would win, but since I photograph my dollies all the time I thought it might be too easy. INSTEAD I decided to pick a collection not featured in my photostream:

THE CONTEST:

Guess the number of Playmates "World of Simpsons" figures currently on display in my apartment (loose and NRFB). The person who comes closest to the correct number will win. In the case of a tie, the person who guessed 1st will win the prize. Here's more info about the "World of Simpsons" figures (I'll give you a hint, I don't own them all): figures.nohomers.net/WoS_Figures.html

THE PRIZE:

You get to choose ONE of the following 8 dolls:

Liv Doll "It's My Nature" Daniela

Liv Doll "It's My Nature" Katie

Liv Doll "It's My Nature" Sophie

Liv Doll "It's My Nature" Alexis

Monster High Lagoona

Monster High Frankie

Monster High Clawdeen

Monster High Draculaura

If you win, please do not ask for substitutions. The reason I chose the dolls listed above is because they are new and exciting and I want everyone to have a chance to own them and see how awesome they are. (Hayden is not listed because I didn't see her in stores around me yet.)

THE RULES:

1) Only people who are a CONTACT, or who have COMMENTED ON or FAVORITED one of my photos in the past are eligible to play. The point of the contest is to thank people for viewing my photos, not to have some random person win a doll.

2) It doesn't matter where you live, I will ship the prize to you for free (unless you live in Antarctica...I won't ship there.)

3) One guess per person. Please post you guess in the comments and DO NOT PM it to me. No editing your post to change your answer.

4) Your guess must be made by Wednesday (July 28) at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. I will announce who won on Wednesday afternoon.

5) Anyone of any age is welcome to join. If you are under the age of 18, though, please please please make sure your parent/guardian is OK with you entering. The last thing I need is an angry Mom or Dad wondering why some stranger is sending their kid a doll in the mail.

TL;DR - Come closest to guessing how many "World of Simpsons" figures I have on display by Wednesday (7/28) 8:00 a.m PST and win a freakin' cool doll.

Universal Studios L.A.

As always, any SFRM trip to Jacksonville begins and ends at Norfolk Southern Simpson Yard. This year afforded a repeat of the Summerwatch retreat with a couple local South Florida railfans in Folkston. In a last minute effort, I invited visiting buff Nelson Acosta to come with for a reduced two day outing. While we'd lodge overnight in Folkston, the idea was to explore other scenery and right some wrongs from last year's trip. Despite the darkside attitudes of both of us, it was expected that CSX would put on a better show. We missed K207 with a NS C40-8W leading to gamble on 209, but didn't gamble too well. It had two of the crispiest crappers I have seen in a while, shown here led by the #8952 and #9125 as it treks on to the FEC with cars for trains 101 and 117.
