Inspired by classic racing bikes this single speed from Simplified is all modern under the retro looks. Plus, it was hand-built by Tom Teesdale!
In the early 1990s, when I lived in Taiwan for the first time this was about the only beer available. I used to say it tastes like petrol. My local friends thought that was impolite of me to say, but the truth was even worse: The quality was inconsistent and when you opened a bottle you were never too sure what it would taste like. They brewery obviously had a serious problem with quality control. Once a customer even found a glove in a bottle! A national newspaper asked him what it tasted like and he answered "like petrol". That officially vindicated me. Today life in Taiwan is much easier, since they brew the 金牌. However, I still hate the typeface how they write 台湾啤酒 on the label in Chinese simplified characters. Bad style.
here's the simplification I chose of the jade swan with candles. I know shooting into light sources is a general no-no, but I chose to do this because the ambient light showing through the swan gives it an interesting luminosity, and the tea light is gentle enough that it takes a foreground role without overexposing the swan. The other shiny things in the scene (mirror, lucite plaque) fade nicely into the background. I cropped this for shape in photoshop, and applied a softening filter to counteract the grainy quality of my camera in low light situations.
ICAD #61 for July 31, 2014: Simplify. This is not an original idea. I first saw it on a photograph and then when I was walking around Barnes and Noble yesterday I saw it again on a small book titled something like 365 ideas to simplify your life. I decided than that someone was trying to tell me something. Watercolor and micron pen. If you look carefully, above the first dotted "i" is a tiny heart. It's the way the watercolor ran. Not planned at all. My second clue that this was a good way to end the ICAD Challenge. twistylane.blogspot.com/2014/07/done.html

A Shot taken 3 days before new year. My friends and I were too bored, so we went towards the western part of Pangasinan to search for some public resort in the province. And we found this place in Bolinao. It is known for its nice seashores and sunsets.
El Pescador, a new resort in the town, is a few kilometers away from the market. The construction of facilities were still in progress. I hope to return to this resort and this town.
I will go back to this town and shoot its beautiful landscape and coastalscapes.

The Summer Palace (simplified Chinese: 颐和园; traditional Chinese: 頤和園; pinyin: Yíhé Yuán; literally "Gardens of Nurtured Harmony") is a palace in Beijing, China. The Summer Palace is mainly dominated by Longevity Hill (60 meters high) and the Kunming Lake. It covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometers, three quarters of which is water.
Longevity Hill is about 60 meters (196.9 feet) high and houses many buildings positioned in sequence. The front hill is rich in the splendid halls and pavilions, while the back hill, in sharp contrast, is quiet with natural beauty
The central Kunming Lake covering 2.2 square kilometers was entirely man made and the excavated soil was used to build Longevity Hill. In the Summer Palace, one finds a variety of palaces, gardens, and other classical-style architectural structures.
In December 1998, UNESCO included the Summer Palace on its World Heritage List. It declared the Summer Palace "a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design. The natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value." It is a popular tourist destination but also serves as a recreational park. -Wikipedia
Something a little different.
