A few weeks ago I bought a Olympus E-PL3. A small camera with interchangeable lenses, and with the right adapter even suitable to take photo's with old M42 and Minolta lenses. I didn't expect to like it this much... what a great little camera! It has even a nickname... Sir Ollie!
I tried some new photography, some more simple photo's. And damn... that's hard to do!! Please press "L" for a better view.

This is the second shirtdress I've made in the last couple of months. Shirtdresses are everywhere. Did you see the one Michael made on Project Runway last night? It was smokin' hot! Shirtdressing is very popular right now... just walk into any department store or boutique and there they are. I was inspired by the details of the Diane vonFurstenberg <a href="http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?FOLDERfolder_id=282574491208767&PRODUCTprd_id=845524446141848&R=663231545469&P_name=Diane+vonFurstenberg&sid=10D11565C966&ASSORTMENTast_id=1408474395222441&bmUID=1155688457038">Hillevi Shirtdress, so I decided to modify this pattern to have a similar look. There were a several alterations that I made:I lengthened front and back pieces by 2" because I felt I was a lot taller than the model on the envelope.I lengthened the sleeves by 1".Re-shaped pockets on lower edge corners from round to square.Changed pockets by adding a pleat and a flap. As a guide, I used the pocket pieces from View A.Omitted belt loops (carriers).Topstitched collar.Even though after completing this dress, I wish I had used the long-sleeve version of McCall's 4769, because (1) the bodice and the skirt are cut separately and I could have made the bodice in one size without a FBA and the skirt in one size larger. And also (2) the skirt in that pattern is cut on an A-line which would have captured the look of my inspiration dress more. Overall, I like this dress and I do plan on wearing it. I will probably accessorize it with a wider belt for more of a cinched waist. This was a very easy pattern to follow since this was a Threads Magazine Collection pattern and they are known for their "Step by step to sewing success!" instrustuctions. Will I sew this one again? Probably so, I'm already thinking of doing Version A in corduroy.

Bag lined and closed at top with zipper; gloves bias slip-ons, hat with four piece crown, open at back but attached to stitched brim, stitched bow trims front. Ribbon band is slip-stitched inside hat, three-piece bias turban gathered at front and draped around head.

BAG: 1 spool matching thread (100 yds.); buttonhole twist; slide fastener; interfacing.
GLOVES: 1 spool matching thread (100 yds.)
HAT: 1 button (15 lines--3/8" diam.); stiffening (Tarlatan); buttonhole twist; 1 spool matching thread (100 yds.) 1 spool contrast (50 yds.).
TURBAN: 1 spool matching thread (100 yds.).

For now, this is the front yoke detail shot for a dress I have wanted to sew since last summer. Now it is too cold to wear it! Cynthia Rowley for Simplicity pattern 2584. I did not line the yoke, and instead piped it -- which may have lost some of the sharpness of the yoke corners -- but I am still pretty happy with the way it turned out.

I try to remember simplicity is my goal as I rearrange my things in the newly renovated suite. I also try to remember simplicity is not an impossible goal even though the suite is only 328 square feet in size and both Tessa and Sole arrived with a lot of baggage. ;)

Junior Misses' and Misses' Skirt, Halter, Shorts and Short Jacket
The halter has a V shaped neckline. A stitched pleat at neck gives bustline fullness. The full skirt, Views 1 and 2, has double inverted pleats at front, back, and side waistline. The brief jacket is faced and features wide contrasting cuffs. Trim shorts, View 3, have patch pockets and a zipper closing at back.

Simplicity 2891..my 2nd top from this pattern & 3rd top made for my trip to Japan. I find it ironic that I will be wearing this outfit with fabric from Japan.
I made my normal broadback adjustment & enlarged the armhole. I originally had sleeves in it, but the fabric actually made it hot (as we have had hot weather lately - similar to Japan), so I decided to remove the sleeves.
