The spigot for this sacred spring was very simple and effective.

This and the previous photograph are something of an experiment, or perhaps even a cheat.

I wanted to see how my 74-year old Weltini's uncoated lens would cope with colour and bright lights, so I loaded a roll of Kodak Elitechrome 100 and went for a walk.

Many of the shots I took in sunlight had a blue cast and fairly low contrast - pretty much what I feared would happen if I didn't use a hood and/or a skylight filter.

Then I got to thinking if I could improve the contrast of the pictures they might look better: but global contrast changes didn't help. It struck me that I had some software that could help increase micro-contrast: easyHDR.

I'm not generally a fan of HDR, but easyHDR lets you make changes without giving pictures that unattractive, supersaturated, grainy look. It also allows you to work on single images, which is what I did here. I used the 'Natural' setting, which compresses the dynamic range a little and improves micro-contrasts. Then I used PS5 to tweak the colour balance as the images still looked too blue.

These two pictures, especially this one, look to me to be an improvement on the originals. It's a technique I might play with a little more. Of course, it might have been simpler just to use the 32mm push-on combined hood and skylight filter I have in front of me, but that's for my next roll.

Simple is the life, I follow. I have history I cannot ignore, which makes me different. I have two choices, remeber or ignore.

Every one thing makes us different, I can understand those who have not developed there own personality, to take the piss. I believe, it's a learning curve. Like a badly treated dog, I can or have to believe in mankind, is ok, else I'd fall well behind. Education is important, manners is far more important. The love of nature, and feelings is a gift.

But good stuff there ;-))
