A juvenile swan is apparently called a signet, which is what those grey ones are.

 

The two adults were protecting them and advanced on Xena, my dog, with a very menacing hiss. Apparently, swans fight by using their head as a bludgeon and their necks are strong enough to break a man's arm or kill a dog.

 

So I got Xena away from there.
