Black Tap @blacktapnyc has become famous for its mammoth creatively conceived #milkshake which comes in flavors including "Sweet N' Salty" "Cotton Candy" which is topped with a mosaic of colorful candies 🍬🍭and "Oreo Cookies and Cream" which cost between $7 and $15. They also sell gourmet #burgers 🍔and draft🍺 #beer. When we were there yesterday afternoon there was a long line that stretched around the corner into Sixth Avenue for their #milkshakes! #storefront #signgeeks #signcollective #neonsign
Looking at the northeast corner of Kingston Road and Victoria Park Avenue, April 1977. I was inside a friend's car and we were northbound on VicPk, stopped at the light. Discovering this photo made me realize that my "drive by shooting" obsession is nowhere near as new as I thought!
This store opened during what is known as the "Great Migration," the movement of 6 million African-Americans out of the rural Southern United States to the urban Northeast between 1910 and 1970. We particularly love this variety stores's #handpainted #sign and the heart-breaking child's drawing taped to the front window (on the bottom left) that shows the before and after effects of crack on a woman. #storefront #disappearingfaceofnewyork #tv_retrotype #jj_texttypographical #signgeeks #typevstime #signcollective #myfeatureshoot #reportagespotlight #fontastic #ipulledoverforthis #gas_food_lodging
The Coffee Shop on Union Square West in Manhattan has been in business since 1990 but the vertically overhanging #neon #sign is from 1960 when the space was a Greek #diner. When the present owners took over the location in 1990 they repurposed the diner's lunch counter to form a bar and kept this #vintage #signage for @thecoffeeshopnyc. We are glad they did because we love to see it glow across Union Square! #neonsign #neongeeks #signgeeks #type #typography #font #signgeeks #nyc #storefront #popyacolour
Lucky Jewelry in the #Bronx has an interesting name and even better #signage. We love the #font used for the main part of the #sign and the #script lettering used for the #neon sign in the window. #storefront #disappearingfaceofnewyork #type #typography #signgeeks #SignCollective #tv_retrotype
This is a vintage 1949 restored diner, now known as the Gatto Cycle Diner; photographed as I was losing the light in the evening, in the boro of Tarentum; Pittsburgh, PA
John's Deli in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn was founded in 1968 by John Cicero. It has been voted as the home of "the best hero in Brooklyn". This #hero is the "John's Signature Hot Roast Beef with Mutz and Gravy" which consists of a half-pound of thinly sliced #roastbeef and two slices of #mozzarella, carmelized onions and dark gravy on a long hero roll. We love their #vintage #sign with its unique #font spelling DELI as well as the #script "John's". #storefront #typography #food #signgeeks #deli #brooklyn
I spotted this old rusted and splotchy neon sign on the roof of an abandoned motel while driving around the Buffalo NY area; I'm pretty sure this was on Niagara Falls Blvd.
