Randazzo's Clam Bar in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn has been in business since 1916. It began as a family ‪#‎fish‬ market and Helen Randazzo later opened the restaurant section serving fried ‪#‎clams‬, ‪#‎Calamari‬, ‪#‎shrimp‬, ‪#‎lobster‬ and mussels. Helen created their famous and top-secret marinara sauce in 1960. It is still served today in 2 varieties, either spicy hot or medium over clams, calamari, shrimp and other ‪#‎seafood‬ dishes. We love their fried calamari and are especially fond of their ‪#‎vintage‬ ‪#‎neon‬ sign with the flashing lobster. ‪#‎neonsign‬ ‪#‎neongeeks‬ ‪#‎signgeeks‬ ‪#‎trb_ipoft_signs‬ ‪#‎ipulledoverforthis‬ ‪#‎gas_food_lodging‬ ‪#‎brooklyn‬
My tour of Broadway with Josh and Carlos. DTLA sure has changed since my last visits (2005 and 2006): lots of gentrification, new restaurants and bars. Wealthy young hipsters everywhere, mingling with the homeless, the downtrodden, the immigrants. The good side of gentrification is the restoration of so many lovely old buildings, the revival of old establishments and new businesses being brought to Downtown; the bad side is that rents have gone up, and people whose families have been here for generations are being displaced. I hope a healthy balance can be attained. Downtown Los Angeles, CA - April 2016
