Before we talk about the awesome sign and neon pig outside of Red Bridges Barbecue Lodge, let's talk about the AMAZING barbecue you'll find inside of Red Bridges Barbecue Lodge. This is one of those joints that slow cooks the barbecue over hickory overnight. Because the barbecue is cooked overnight, if they run out before closing time, they close up early for the day. You'll often find them near the top of everyone's Best NC BBQ lists. They recently won the nationwide Garden & Gun magazine's 2015 Ultimate Barbecue Bracket.

Yes, there really is a Garden & Gun magazine.

And oh yeah, the sign's pretty cool too.

Spotted on Hwy#192 (which is a west connector of the Dixie Hwy, for those interested in the old DH) in Kissimmee, FL

I used the Pioneer Woman's 70s Action on this, as well as adding grain.

This photo and the adjacent photo (the Penn Auto Body Supply ghost sign) are across a vacant lot from eachother. After much searching whenever I travel, I have finally located a Coca Cola ghost sign! The side of this bldg has other markings as well. Photographed in the boro of Tarentum; Pittsburgh, PA

Saw this theater on a drive down to Kansas City earlier this year in March. Resolved to come back and shoot it at twilight/dusk/blue hour when it was lit up. I was glad to see that all the letters were lit and the sign appeared to be in fine order. One more summer goal completed.

This has the holes from what I expect is long-gone neon.

First, my apologies for the quality of these shots -- they were shot, if I remember correctly, with an el-cheapo Kodak instamatic. I started off trying to colour-correct the scans (to see the only colour image, click HERE) and then decided they just looked better in b/w.

The Beaches Easter Parade is a beloved annual tradition in this east-end Toronto neighbourhood. When I took these photos, I was living in my first-ever apartment on the south side of Queen Street at the foot of Scarborough Road and there was a small balcony on, I believe, the second floor, at the front of the bldg. That's where I took these shots. For those who are not old-timers to the neighbourhood, this Gulf station was situated on the north-west corner of Queen and Scarborough Rd.

These are the four shots of the 1977 Easter Parade I've posted:
