The village sign at Aldham, Suffolk, pictured at the end of a sunny spring evening. As can be seen from the date, the erection of this sign was part of the village's Millennium project. Many English villages which had previously not had signs, acquired them for the year 2000.
In February 2009, while covering a surf rowing event at Trigg Beach, I photographed a rower from Secret Harbour SLSC who sported some interesting tattooed symbols on his back. Fast forward to July 2010, and this fella, by name of Pughey, rocks up to the studio to participate in the shoot for the "Gun's Up!" book project!
As it turns out, the symbols are the zodiac signs (horoscopes) of his family members (kids and wife). The Capricorn is his zodiac sign.
an old image from the archives... had to pull out the neg yesterday to get a print made...
today is my Friday, so have a great weekend y'all!
"All Memorex Air Duster products contain a bitterant to help discourage inhalant abuse."
"Intentional misuse by deliberately inhaling contents may be FATAL."
Not that these signs are the most interesting in themselves, but the fact that they were in a row fascinated me. Also, the one in the front reminds me of "The Flintstones" and the one in the back reminds me of "The Jetsons" So I'm figuring 50's hotels????
This was taken in Merced, CA
On October 7, 2013 about 80 people joined in AFSC’s monthly vigil at the GEO run ICE immigration detention facility. Three families, each affected in different ways shared their sadness, frustration and gratitude with those gathered. Jeanette Vizguerra, having once been detained there, shared her gratitude for community support and diligence. Silvia, her son currently detained in the facility, shared her sadness at being brutally separated from him. And Genevieve, her step father currently detained there, for over 11 months, waiting to receive news regarding his U Visa application, shared her frustration at the lack of humanity in the prolonged wait. Those present included Regis University, University of Colorado at Denver and Metropolitan State University students, trying to make sense of our broken immigration system. They joined in as clergy, Rev. Anne Dunlap, led prayer with the community.
SPENCER: Does anyone have a grumbly tummy? It's lunchtime! We have a choice from different delicious-smelling restaurants with pretty signs. I like the teapot sign and the bicycle sign! The one with colourful flowerpots on its stairs is pretty too! And I'm sure the food is delicious in all of them, because it sure smells great. There's this mouth-watering smell of delicious food cooking, and also the smell of cooking on wood fire. Where do you want to eat? I would like to try them all! *Rubs his tummy.*
They are signed and after performances they are taken outside by the dancers in hopes that someone who likes a particular dancer will buy one to help support ABT.

I was born on the day Spring begins, we also got married on that day (just making sure he didn't forget, lol).
I love Spring and especially those first 'awakening' signs, more of them to come,
Enjoy it and thanx for your time, visit and comments, M, (*_*)
The Corn Exchange in Leeds on a lovely Spring day ... some of the elements remind me of a Dali painting ...
This is the story of two blades, spears crafted by the hand of the Emperor Himself in the days long before the birth of the Imperium. Linked, equal but opposite, these blades are destined to be wielded by two of the greatest heroes of the Age of Darkness. And as the spears themselves, Appolonian and Dionysian, are equal and opposite, so too are those to whom they were gifted. This is their story too. The warrior-scholar, a savant and a servant. The warrior-king, a savage and a soldier. Their fates entwined in ways they do not understand, they carry the blades as both gift and curse, fulfilment of destiny unseen by any save the Master of Mankind.
One of my honey signs - perched in a hay-loft entrance. For hive design officianados it's a a WBC, the old English double walled hive with tapered lifts and porch - rarely used any more but very decorative
