Viva Las Vegas! Located at the south end of the famous Strip, the Las Vegas sign continues to draw tourists and locals alike.
Brettenham Village Sign was provided by Brettenham Village Fund and erected in 1988. It stands on the Village Green, which is the triangle of land outside the Church and was registered Common
Land in 1968. It features the church of St. Mary The Virgin, the chancel of which can be seen centre-right behind the roadsign. Also featured are a wheatsheaf, chestnut tree and "Vinegar Bible", a copy of which is contained in the church. The wooden seat which can be partially seen in front of the church is dedicated to the memory of Mr Tom Horrex and was bought by the Fund in 1989 with a donation from the Village Hall Committee.
The sign, the form, the name — all the attributes of the sign system create a hindrance ... Reality is not captured by these bodies!
Check out the boy's cuffed pants! Back in the day when pedestrians still had hands and feet and hair... I love this sign.
On Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange, NJ
They've even got doughnuts spelled the old-fashioned way. I don't think I'm going to find a painted sign in Chicago I like better than this West Side one, or take a sign/building photo in Chicago this summer I like better. I saw this the day I first went biking after the two months I couldn't because of the accident/bike trouble.
I wanted to put up a Chicago fave for August 11, the anniversary of the day I moved here, years ago. To celebrate I'll try to get someplace I've long meant to visit here...
This photo was also blogged here with some other cheery yellow ones. I finally joined the Spelling Mistakes pool with this shot...Whee, this photo made Explore, that explains why it got favorited by someone whose page is all in French!
HDR Image from a single Photo processed and edited, using “Photomatix Pro 4” “Photoshop CS5” and “Topaz.” Found this old sign in Moulton, Texas.
Have a great weekend my friends.
The Agilitynut just reminded me that I have this little number just waiting for a moment to debut. Hutchinson, Kansas.
Mrs. W. went to Idaho last week and took several portentous shots, including this one.
Hyperginchy doesn't even begin to describe this one.
Space Burger - made with pure Martian, extra ketchup on request.
Former Save-Rite Gas roadside sign along Haddonfield Road in Cherry Hill. If I remember correctly, the price of the gas was posted in the center rectangular portion with Save-Rite in the top red portion and Gas in the lower portion.
This is a sign that was found when the building it was attached to was renovated in Summer 1996. The company that used to occupy the building was called "Brown, Muff & Co. Ltd.".
My immature side found the "brown muff" but rather amusing. I originally took the same photo a couple of years back when I first came to Bradford but that was before I owned a digital camera
On S Henderson St at Renton Ave S. Points to Link light rail station, Chief Sealth Trail, Kubota Gardens, and the Rainier Beach business district (taped over for some reason). Also a signed bicycle route.
The colours were just magnificent around Bow Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta, on 29 August 2013. Thought I'd post this one, even though you can only see a tiny splash of turquoise of the lake through the trees. The wonderful mix of greens and the brilliant red of the Fireweed leaves were breathtaking. Definitely feels like Fall is beginning.
So it would appear, but in fact it was part of the sign identifying a Seat & Body Shop.
One from the archives, 14 years ago. As usual, stumbled across it by accident.
Well, the signage and everything inside looks a decade or two behind the times, but okay. My August trip to this mostly-disappeared roast beef chain was courtesy of Rax fan (check out his Rax set!) statlerhotel (happy birthday, DK!). I hope to photograph that motel sign in back next trip to Joliet. For more about Rax, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rax_Restaurants
Park Rapids,MN
We rescued this sign after the motel had been sold to a developer. Vintage motel signs are a favorite, the variety is endless, every town had these litte motels welcoming travelers to stay here and they are just fun!
The latest donation to the Museum of Neon Art (MONA) is more complicated than it may seem. This cursive script text, Lanz, is about twelve feet long with beautiful curls, but what makes it so amazing is that it appears the can was illuminated with only two tubes of neon. Judging by the four electrode holes in the can, two holes per tube, there were only two tubes lighting up this long and curly sign. I find it absolutely amazing.
the patches and signs on a service dog aren't suggestions - they are absolute commands. were i in a wheelchair or had some other apparatus to aid me in daily life, you wouldn't randomly approach me and start touching it. my dog is cute, friendly, loving, and happy. she is also at work anytime she is wearing her jacket, which is any time we are not at home. feel free to ask me questions, but do not talk to my dog, do not reach out to my dog, do not make and hold eye contact with my dog. she is on the job, and cannot be disturbed. a lot of people's time, effort and money went into her selection and training, all of it charity work. you are the human in the encounter - read the signs, and obey. it will help my dog do her job, which helps me live my life, and you and i can agree that she is cute and friendly without interfering with her purpose and focus.
