Today we set off for a drive with absolutely no idea where we were going. In the event we ended up driving up to Leadhills, passing Wanlockhead and on down the Mennock Pass to the main road to Dumfries. After Dumfries we headed along the River Nith, past Glencaple and then on towards the A75, back to Dumfries, then home.
This is Mousewald Parish Church. Quite an impressive building but it's a shame it's only been half painted. The local stone is Red Sandstone which can be seen in the church tower and many of the large gravestones.
Belgrade streets are tough to shoot at night, there are differently colored lights (probably mostly LEDs) next to each other and if you balance for e.g. the warm ones then blue-greens will be absolutely unreasonable (and vice-versa).
So I try to find a middle ground while making the most use P3 spectrum. It would’ve been less possible with more human skin in the frame, especially in the warmer areas—our eyes compensate for how weird it looks in orange light, but conveying that in a capture would require special local adjustments just for human subjects.
(Outside of photography I do like orange street lighting, especially non-LEDs, and it’s environmentally friendlier than cooler spectrum.)
