Shutter Speed grading test 1

This is one of my favorite pictures from this album. Increasing the shutter speed and getting the antler against a slightly more blurry background creates a more distinct focal point on the antler.

Interestingly, there were chopped logs piled up in the middle of the forest. So to practice my focusing skills on the foreground and background, this made a good composition. I am pleased with how the depth of field has picked out the individual log that is higher up, distinguishing it from the rest. Something that I could have done differently would be to try a higher aperture setting, so that all of the logs would be in focus in comparison to the scenic background.

I picked this shot because I thought I grabbed all of the action with it. I used fast shutter speed overall and rule of thirds on my sister. I also liked that my dog looks like is floating.

For this photograph, I used a shutter speed of 1/60, an f-stop of 14.0, and an ISO of 100 because it was really sunny outside and I needed to get my shutter speed really high to get the still picture. The short shutter speed made Vale's hair and body look blurred in the image.
