If you can catch the male Broad-billed Hummingbird in the right light it glistens with iridescent blues and greens. This male put on quite a show.
Best way to ID a Northern Mockingbird! Look for the bird that has absolutely the best singing voice in town, and the longest tail on the block.
Snowy Egret in Mating Colors and Feathers
Snowy Egrets show their plumage during mating/breeding season. They start to show in early spring and keep their feathers for quite a while. Their beaks turn more of a yellow/orange/red color during the season. You will find these birds in shallow salt and fresh water areas with a small flock wading and dancing about. They will approach one another, start squawking, inflate their feathers and chase each other about. Sometimes they will start jumping in the air flapping their wings and dance around one another until one gives up and backs off.

One of my passions is flowers and the photography thereof.
But another passion is going to retro car shows like this one. With the pandemic behind us, Sydney should now see a resurgence in car shows!!

As much as I love Waterlilies Orchids tops them all,
we have native Orchids here and they are protected,
in a Month pink ones will be blooming.
Looking back we had such a strange week in Scotland. At some stage in every day, normally late afternoon the wind would completely die down and the nearby sea or loch would become totally calm. I don't think I've ever seen such still bodies of water so often. It was a magnificent Slow Show by The National. It's so hard to resist Stac Pollaidh, my only companions here were thousands of toads, singing away.

If you are interested in the apartments, you will need very deep pockets.
UP 1943 crawls east towards Donner Summit on a cold October evening. The third unit had overheated and when the train was put into full throttle it started giving a really nice smoke show. The train would halt at the summit and sat for hours before finally making its final miles over the summit and down to Sparks.

The dive and catch were too far for a decent shot, but for an osprey half the act is showing off the prize. Osprey with striped mullet on Armand Bayou.

Another wasp! Found this one while cleaning the lettuce for our salad. Could resist taking a quick shot before letting it back outside.

Hello All!
An American Redstart male gave me several poses last spring, 2019. This was one of his more flamboyant moments! They are such beautiful birds, but a real challenge to capture because they are in constant motion as they look for insects.
I appreciate your views and comments, THANK YOU! I hope you have a terrific weekend!

Many witnessed this glorious sight one morning in September of last year in the hills of central Kentucky. We all had the feeling that the end was near and the demise of coal would be the final nail in the coffin for this resilient shortline railroad. Those thoughts came to fruition as the transloading facility was announced to be closed last month making sights like this a thing of the past.
