20 short feet away from perfection, but some degenerate runner Johnny Lightfoot spooked him and blew it, the runner then laughed and Memere and I contemplated becoming the next Bonnie and Clyde. Healthy people are the worst.
Another long day out in the Cotswolds hoping to get images of Short Eared Owls that spend time over wintering before returning home.
Possibly my favourite Short Eared Owl image of the day as it made its closest pass.

On Monday morning I left Calgary at 7:45 am to spend a day driving around with friends. We were looking for birds.
After our visit to Turner Valley we headed East along the highway where we were delighted to see some trees painted with beautiful hoar frost!
Near the end of our drive we found one short-eared owl! That was enough to make us happy!

Short-eared owls are medium-sized owls. They come under Species at Risk (SAR)
