Champagne Pool is a prominent geothermal feature within the Waiotapu geothermal area in the North Island of New Zealand. The orange colour originates from deposits of arsenic and antimony sulfides. The name Champagne Pool is derived from the abundant efflux of carbon dioxide (CO2), similar to a glass of bubbling champagne, unfortunately not well seen in this photo due to the choppy pool surface.

Huge exploding Persied meteor caught during a star trail shoot! This is a re-edit of the original I previously posted, I was able to extract more of the natural star colours and brightness in the foreground.
Impossibly delicate, beautiful and always in motion, this is Flax (Linum usitatissimum). Flax is a common food and fiber crop, but also lovely in the garden.
Finally finished my exam and have my freedom back once again. I should be uploading more often from now on. I'm off to visit your streams :)
This is the original shot of my Shooting Stars photo. Just a slow shutter speed and some movement to make the effect.
The interesting thing about this shot is this view is of the bottom of the bubbles, that is the the bubbles are on the other side of the glass that they sit on.
This is a shot of Rich Bitonti and Darren White shooting a section of Zabrinski Point in Death Valley earlier this week. We had just finished shooting the sunrise at Badwater and tried to get a few shots of Zabrinski Pt before the light got too harsh.

I haven't used my Minolta X500 much the last 2~3 years. i've recently decided to get back shooting with it. I already shot a roll and I'm doing another while the lab comes back from their vacation to develop my first. It's exciting to shoot film, always a different experience, more thoughtful.
Also, considering during the time I spent not shooting with the Minolta, I bought the 58mm f/1.7, 58mm f/1.2, 200mm f/4... plus I bought an M42 to Minolta SR adapter, so I actually have plenty of different lenses I can use !

This beautiful wildflower grows in those parts of Ohio where dolomite limestone is at or very near to the surface of the soil. I've seen them from pure white to deep pink. This one is somewhere in the middle - sort of a pale pink.
