Key shifting exercise, In this shot Vanessa is properly exposed with strobe but the shutter speed holds the background -2 stops from the foreground. Very cool technique. Gives great background saturation.

I'm still trying to find out what type of photography I prefer to shoot.
I was walking down to the beach today and peered over one of the bridges to see these lovely tankers. Ran all the way to the car to get my camera and ran all the way back to take some photos before we all left the beach.
Thought it would make an awesome Tilt-shift image. I love Tilt-shift but after looking through Rosie Hardy's photostream, I believe its time to really use my photoshop skills and try something similar. Her work is not Tilt-shift related, but it is brilliant

With the coming of the dawn it's time for a shift change as the Night Watch officer briefs his daytime replacement.
Normally, both these buildings would be equally in focus, used shift and tilt to move the focus purely to the right hand building. No photoshop.

I can't believe how much in the past 25 years how much the beach here has changed, the sand you see was at least 20 feet lower than what it is now!!! Butlins in the background has changed massively in that time too!!!

Just started attempting to fake the tilt/Shift effect in photoshop, happy with some of the pictures. Still trying to get the blur and the focus range right. A picture taken on a fjord cruise underneath the prekestol in Rogaland in Norway, a really spectacular site.
