Richfield Tower was constructed between 1928 and 1929 and served as the headquarters of Richfield Oil. It was designed by Stiles O. Clements and featured a black and gold Art Deco façade. The unusual color scheme was meant to symbolize the "black gold" that was Richfield's business. Haig Patigian did the exterior sculptures.
The company quickly outgrew the building, and it was demolished in 1969, much to the dismay of Los Angeles residents and those interested in architectural preservation, to make way for the present ARCO Plaza skyscraper complex. The elaborate black-and-gold elevator doors were salvaged from the building and now reside in the lobby of the new ARCO building (now City National Tower).

The Subaru "Shifter" was a 2 wheel drive (front wheel drive) only pickup that was released in Britain in 1981. I am not sure if it was sold in any other countries ? I feel that perhaps Subaru were just using the last bits of the MK1 truck up before the release of the new MK2 that was also introduced here in 1981. Can anyone confirm this or otherwise ?

A process that has carried on here at the North Fond Du Lac shops for 100+ years under several different railroad flags, members of the CN's workforce depart their livelihood at the end of their shift to head home.
Despite all the streamlining and modernization across the railroad industry over the last 25 years, seeing these old brick shop buildings still standing despite their age is a welcome sight for this railroad historian.
The fact that the railroad also still supports the local community with employment opportunities is another side of this photo that should not be overlooked in todays job slashing world.
