About as big as a finger nail on your little finger. The ones I see here at home are green and found on Hawthorn trees. This was on some grasses trying to hide!!.

I managed to acquire this cutie for free with some cut dahlias, and then photograph it before I gave it the run of my garden :-)

Some people walking down our street (that I don't even know) and I am sure they were not aware that I took their picture.

Shield beatle, Taken at RSPB Rye Meads october 2018

Managed to make it to the coast this morning. Not to much colour for the sunrise this morning

No idea what type - there seems to be quite a few!

Every night we get two or three of these Shieldbugs on the half-glazed back door, looking like they're longing to come in!

In order to get a shot, I open the door so light falls on the bugs and take my shot there .. the underside is shot through the glass, hence slightly blurred!

Thank you very much rockwolf for comfirming this is the Forest Bug, Pentatoma rufipes, much appreciated!

We have a stand of sycamore trees behind the house, plus assorted wild plants and grasses.

Thought it was about time I shot some more macro, so I saw this little pest in the garage and took his picture!

The yellow "dust" over the bug and the handle is Pine pollen that blows over this part of New Zealand at this time of year. Everything gets a coating

As a child you would wait

And watch from far away

But you always knew that you'd be the one that work while they all play

In youth you'd lay awake at night and scheme

Of all the things that you would change, but it was just a dream!

Here we are

Don't turn away now (don't turn away)

We are the warriors that built this town

Here we are

Don't turn away now (don't turn away)

We are the warriors that built this town from dust

The time will come when you will have to rise

Above the best and prove yourself

Your spirit never dies

Farewell, I've gone to take my throne above

Don't weep for me

Cause this will be the labor of my love (my love)

Here we are

Don't turn away now (don't turn away)

We are the warriors that built this town

Here we are

Don't turn away now (don't turn away)

We are the warriors that built this town from dust

Here we are, don't turn away now (don't turn away)

We are the warriors that built this town

Here we are, don't turn away now (don't turn away)

We are the warriors that built this town from dust

Commemorative shield, once displayed at the church of Kristdala, Småland, Sweden, as a memento of the either Lyder Svinakula or his son Henrik Svinakula. The family came from northern Germany in the early 14th century. Henrik was born sometime in the first half of the 14th century, and was quite wealthy, owning several estates in Östergötland and Småland (including six in the parish of Kristdala). He also married well, his wife was Kristina Björnsdotter who had land in another part of the country - Närke. But towards the end of the 1350s Henrik had severe economical problems and for the next twenty years their estates were sold off (including Kristina's ancestral home). Henrik is mentioned for the last time in 1384. He left no known issue (his daughter Ingeborg died before her father).

This shield (one of a couple) was never used in battle, and was never intended to be used in battle either. It was used at a funeral, and then left in the church where the funeral had taken place. The shape of the form has made researchers suggest a 1380s date, which make it likely to date to the death of Henrik Svinakula.

The shield shows a black boar (I might add that 'svin' means 'boar') on a golden field - displaying a couple of nasty fangs and a red tongue.

Scaling down the droideka to accurate minifig-scale opened up the possibility of using the 8x8 Windscreen Domes, which are the largest windscreen domes, as the iconic force-fields of the droideka. With the droideka standing at 6 studs, 8x8 is the perfect size sphere to envelope the droid correctly. Embedding it into the ground proved to be quite the tricky challenge actually, as I wanted the ground internally to match the external ground level, and also have a tight fit around the shield, which much to my surprise is 1 plate not spherical as the domes aren't actually perfect semi-spheres. This lead to a ring and inner ring that doesn't have a top or bottom, as the studs on it face up in 4 different directions like the blades of a windmill, and an interesting and fun internal build to match up all the turns and offsets.

The floor was also a tricky component of the build, as the curvature of the domes at the low point is pretty high so even a 2 plate thick design would have pushed the ground up too high.

Happy with the end result as gaps are almost exclusively the thickness of the shield itself and it works well from any angle.
