it's located in the captial city of the UAE, Abu Dhabi <3

" It is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan the founder and the first President of the United Arab Emirates, who is also buried there.

The Sheikh Zayed Mosque also has some world records made.

The carpet to be laid out on the vast expanse is the "World's Largest Carpet" made by Iran's Carpet Company and designed by Iranian artist Ali Khaliqi. This carpet measures 5,627 square meters, and was made by around 1,200 weavers, 20 technicians, and 30 workers. The weight of this carpet is 47 tons - 35 tons of wool, and 12 tons of cotton. The Mosque is large enough to accommodate more than 30,000 worshipers.

There are four minarets on the four corners of the mosque which rise about 107 meters in height. There are 57 domes covering the outside yard and the main building as well. The domes are decorated with white marble and the interior decoration is made of the marble.

Part of this truly amazing building in Abu Dhabi.Covered in pure white marble,it was built with no cost spared. Some of the 54 domes can be seen, with the one on the right being the largest dome in the world.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was initiated by the late president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who wanted to establish a structure which unites the cultural diversity of Islamic world, the historical and modern values of architecture and art.[2] His final resting place is located on the grounds beside the same mosque. The mosque was constructed from 1996 to 2007.[3] It is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world. The building complex measures approximately 290 m (960 ft) by 420 m (1,380 ft), covering an area of more than 12 hectares (30 acres), exclusive of exterior landscaping and vehicle parking.-wiki

When he noticed I am pointing my (big) lens towards him; he stopped for a moment, looked at me with his authoritative look, and waited for a second until I took the photo. He, then, nodded me with his head, and walked on his way…

I must admit I don't think I ever saw a man with a kaffia that colors his mustache…

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, and is considered to be the key site for worship in the country. Wikipedia

I've uploaded several version of this mosque....but it's such a great piece of architecture that I had to shoot it from many different perspectives :)

One of the most magnificent structures I have ever seen...the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi is lit up at night, but the color will vary depending something to do with the moon (If anyone knows, please tell). This was taken at night (obviously), with a very long exposure.

A bit more from Wikipedia:

Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the sixth largest mosque in the world. It is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and the first President of the United Arab Emirates, who is also buried there. The mosque was officially opened in the Islamic month of Ramadan in 2007.

Although it is illegal for non-Muslims to enter mosques in the United Arab Emirates, this mosque will be an exception. The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority announced that tours of the mosques will be given to both Muslims and non-Muslims beginning in mid-March 2008 in order to promote cultural and religious understanding.
