Hemmed on four sides by architectural gems and embracing the formal fountains and gardens at its centre, this wondrous space is a spectacle in its own right. It was laid out in 1602 under the reign of the Safavid ruler, Shah Abbas the Great, to signal the importance of Esfahan as a capital of a powerful empire. Cross the square on a clear winter's day and it's a hard heart that isn't entranced by its beauty. At 512m long and 163m wide, Naqsh-e Jahan is one of the largest squares in the world, earning a listing as a Unesco World Heritage site. The name means ‘pattern of the world’ and it was designed to showcase the finest jewels of the Safavid empire – the incomparable Masjed-e Shah, the elegant Masjed-e Sheikh Lotfollah and the lavishly decorated Kakh-e Ali Qapu and Qeysarieh Portal.
La mezquita Sheikh Zayed es una mezquita situada en Abu Dabi, en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos. Su nombre hace honor al primer presidente de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Zayed ibn Sultán Al Nahayan, quien falleciera en 2004. El proyecto se inició en 1998 por iniciativa del propio Sheikh Zayed.[1] La construcción terminó en 2007, después de siete años de construcción y un coste de 600 millones de dólares. Es la mayor mezquita de los EAU y la ter.cera más grande del mundo.

Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque (Persian: مسجد شیخ لطف الله)[2] is one of the architectural masterpieces of Safavid Iranian architecture, standing on the eastern side of Naghsh-i Jahan Square, Isfahan, Iran.
Construction of the mosque started in 1603 and was finished in 1619. It was built by the chief architect Shaykh Bahai, during the reign of Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty.

" It is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan the founder and the first President of the United Arab Emirates, who is also buried there.
The Sheikh Zayed Mosque also has some world records made.
The carpet to be laid out on the vast expanse is the "World's Largest Carpet" made by Iran's Carpet Company and designed by Iranian artist Ali Khaliqi. This carpet measures 5,627 square meters, and was made by around 1,200 weavers, 20 technicians, and 30 workers. The weight of this carpet is 47 tons - 35 tons of wool, and 12 tons of cotton. There are 2,268,000 knots within the carpet.
The other world record this mosque holds is for the largest chandelier. There are seven chandeliers imported from Germany and are copper and gold-plated. The largest chandelier has a 10 meter diameter and a 15 meter height.
The Mosque is large enough to accommodate more than 30,000 worshipers.
There are four minarets on the four corners of the mosque which rise about 107 meters in height. There are 57 domes covering the outside yard and the main building as well. The domes are decorated with white marble and the interior decoration is made of the marble.
The courtyard is paved with the best floral marble designs and measures about 17,000 square meters. "

La mezquita Sheikh Zayed es una mezquita situada en Abu Dabi, en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos. Su nombre hace honor al primer presidente de los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Zayed ibn Sultán Al Nahayan, que falleció en 2004. El proyecto se inició en 1998 por iniciativa del propio Sheikh Zayed.
La construcción terminó en 2007, después de siete años de construcción y un coste de 600 millones de dólares. Es la mayor mezquita de los EAU y la tercera más grande del mundo.
Arquitectura
La mezquita cuenta con cuatro minaretes de una altra de 107 metros y con 82 bóvedas de siete tamaños diferentes. Las bóvedas de mayor tamaño se construyeron con panales de hormigón prefabricados y fijados entre ellos, mientras que las bóvedas más pequeñas se construyeron in situ de fibra de vidrio. La bóveda más importante tiene una altura de 80 metros y un diámetro de 36 m.
El complejo tiene 1048 columnas en el exterior y 96 en el interior.
Decoración
La artesanía es de alta calidad, y los motivos son de inspiración musulmana, desde la India hasta Marruecos pasando por Argelia y Pakistán. Para su construcción se utilizó mármol, yeso, madera y mosaicos.
Se utilizaron miles de piedras raras y semipreciosas para la decoración de la mezquita, especialmente incrustadas en el mármol: lapislázulis, amatistas, ónix rojo y aventurina, entre otros.
Interior
La sala principal tiene 10 lámparas de araña de 10 metros de longitud y de 9 toneladas de peso, a base de cobre y recubiertos de oro, fabricados en Alemania por la empresa Swarovski.2
La alfombra en la sala principal es, con 5.627 m2, la alfombra más grande del mundo, pesa 47 toneladas (35 de lana y 12 algodón) y tiene 2.268.000.000 nudos. Está hecha a mano por aprox. 1200 mujeres iranís y diseñada por el artista Ali Khaliqi. Tiene un valor estimado de 8,5 millones de dólares.

One of the must see places in UAE is Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi ... It is for sure one of the most amazing Islamic architectures ever if not the best ... truly a masterpiece ...
