Shattered Badge (first show) @ The Cobalt Cafe, Canoga Park, CA - 1/1/2010

iPhone 4G in pocket with keys + apparently bumping into someone = Shattered screen.

Another tree in horrible disrepair.

Sedately walking into a familiar bathroom,

A feeling of dejection overwhelmed me

As I stumbled upon this untouched scene of shattered dreams.

The one section of my reflection gawking at me, mocking my primary intentions;

While the lonesome jagged fragment of reflective glass threatened to tear through the Flesh of my heart severing it into two;

One for me and one for you.

Me, my brother, and our friend's new band, I play the bass, my brother Harry plays the guitar, and our friend Travis plays the drums.

We practice in Travis's garage attic and have mastered two songs as well as written an original, and we hope to play in a school talent show. Our influences include: Pink Floyd, Nightmare, Maximum the Hormone, They Might Be Giants, Metallica, and the list goes on.

On July 17, 2010, Pike County, Kentucky received a deluge of rain--according to some reports, 5 inches in less than 20 minutes and flood waters rose four feet in one hour's time. Houses were knocked off their foundations; trailers and vehicles swept away and twisted like pretzels, leaving the community reeling from the suddenness and extent of the disaster.

Ten days later on Wednesday, July 28, I joined a group from the company I work for to spend the day in Pike County helping with flood cleanup. We were assigned to work on gutting the interior of a house that had had several feet of water in the main floor rising to a height halfway up the windows. Sludge was still in the basement to be hauled out. This lone teddy bear caked with mud and resting forlornly behind the house gave silent testimony to the devastation and shattered dreams of many people.

Remains of a Bomb-Damaged Japanese 12cm Dual Purpose gGun, North Head, Kiska

Strategically placed to defend the northern approaches to Kiska Harbor, the shattered remains of this gun testify to the terrifying ferocity of an air war waged over large distances, first from Umnak, and later from newly built bases on Adak and Amchitka.

The night before we left Chicago to return to Columbus, my buddy's car was broken into. Nothing was stolen, but it's no fun driving in cold weather with no window.

After managing to shatter yesterday's effort at freezing slices of lime, I tried a shot of some of the pieces, on a black background.

Out and about nightshooting with the boys. My pictures turned out like pure and utter crap (I apparently have issues focusing), but a few were borderline salvageable. Skazama and Judyboy have much better shots from this site, and threshold has some great shots from the night before. (Thanks to paulinski for teaching me html!!)

Broken surface layer of sand next to my footprint. Just liked the way the baked surface of the sand seemed to shatter in all directions! :-)
