On my hikes I have almost no time to sit still, I want to move on, see and discover more. Where goes and leads the path further ahead? But right here, I sat down. It was the wind that whispered, it was the smell of sea and sand - I feel lucky to have the opportunity to experience these beautiful surroundings so I share it with you!

St Michael's Mount is a tidal island in Mount's Bay, Cornwall, United Kingdom. The island is a civil parish and is linked to the town of Marazion by a man-made causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water. It is managed by the National Trust, and the castle and chapel have been the home of the St Aubyn family since approximately 1650.

Historically, St Michael's Mount was a Cornish counterpart of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, France (with which it shares the same tidal island characteristics and the same conical shape, though it is much smaller, at 57 acres, than Mont St Michel which covers 247 acres), when it was given to the Benedictine religious order of Mont Saint-Michel by Edward the Confessor in the 11th century.

St Michael's Mount is one of 43 unbridged tidal islands that one can walk to from mainland Britain. Part of the island was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1995 for its geology.

When angle shares her light, you can call it an angelic light. I call it Angel’s share. I don’t know how did I meet her but I was greedily seeking her share.

Ahhhh! How rich it can be!

Trust me, when she lights up the entire sky, I indeed witnessed her convention as I was grabbing her share….!!

This is Max who shares the house with me, he will have his 3rd birthday on Monday. The theme for this week is Portrait (not self portrait) so this is a possible offering as I have no other folk in the house and I'm still not getting out much. Still hoping to find an obliging human tomorrow! In many ways he's harder than a person because its hard to get him to sit still with his eyes open!

He shares a hopeful glance towards the horizon, inhaling a long breath, his gaze closing down before he lift his head up towards the sky. Memories tease his senses and makes a smile form over his lips before he exhales his breath in a silent 'Thank You' back towards the earth. The flowers sang into his ears and beckoning him to relax, to breathe...

P.S. It was such a pleasure to shoot my very own twin! :D

Lya challenged to take a portrait of him so tadaaa (Part 1 portrait) :D

There is another photo with TheNest : Sunbird actually seen in the background but I loved this shot and had to work on it.

Shares this striking position next to the River Lowther with the earlier Roman fort, Brocavum. The original castle was built in the early thirteenth century by Robert de Vieuxpont, a great friend and supporter of King John. The castle stayed in his family until 1269 when it was taken over by the Clifford family.

Like a lot of border establishments the neighbours to the North took a dislike to it and burned and sacked it.

Together with Appleby, Brough and Skipton Castles they formed a line of defence and communication connecting the border region to Yorkshire.

The glory days of Brougham were when Lady Anne Clifford took the reigns in 1650. She improved and extended the facilities of not only Brougham but her other castles in the North. Her death in 1679 marked the start of the decline of castle culture. The buildings fell into disuse and were robbed of materials for other building projects. Today the site is owned and administered by the Historic England.

Until recently this was known as the American race of Hen Harrier (Circus cyaneus subspecies hudsonius), although it was commonly known as Marsh Hawk in America. Recent work suggested that the American race merited full species status and it was duly awarded that, so is know known as Northern Harrier (Circus hudsonius). This is a juvenile male, identifiable by its green eye, as juvenile females have brown eyes, both sexes paling to yellow by adulthood. It also shows the characteristic white rump patch of the "Ringtail" plumage that it shares with its close cousin, the Hen Harrier: www.flickr.com/photos/timmelling/52200453421/in/photolist I photographed this individual at the George C Reifel reserve south of Vancouver.

This is the trickiest shot I did from a long time.

To get to this exact point I had to walk in a thick deep powder (up the knee) for 45mn, in a very rocky area not knowing what was underneath.

Once I reached the location I had to climb this very steep rock covered of snow with not much room to place my feet to climb it. When I got to the top, I walked to the opposite side to get this view. The last problem was to stay along the cliff as I had a really tiny surface to set up my tripod. Every move I did was in slow motion as I didn't want to fall or let my gear fall down.

It was sunset and the scenery was just so peaceful. It was worth the pain. Managed to get the perfect light before it was too dark.

Enjoy

Yet another cold grey day as May continues to go forget to warm up but in a sheltered spot in Great Park in Newcastle I found this nice female Orange-tip (Anthocharis cardamines) perched up on a Cuckoo Flower (Cardamine pratensis)

The butterfly is so closely linked to the flower that it shares part of its Scientific name and is the main host plant for the eggs and caterpillars. The flowers local common name, Cuckoo flower is due to them opening up around the same time as Cuckoo’s reach the UK in spring. Other names include Lady’s Smock

The McPolin Farmstead is a historic farm north of Park City, Utah, United States. It has buildings constructed c. 1921 and later, including a large "improvement era" dairy barn, known as the "White Barn", approximately 100 by 35 feet in footprint.

Patrick and Grace McPolin inherited the farm in 1922 and operated it as a dairy farm until they sold it to D. A. Osguthorpe, a Salt Lake veterinarian, in 1947.

I posted this picture on "Old Barns Photography "on Facebook. It has received over 900 likes,42 comments & 80 shares. Probably my best shot ever posted to Facebook

A male mallard duck shares the shore of Steepbank Lake with sandpipers at Steepbank Wilderness Resort, North of Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada.

A forest fire was threatening the resort during my stay at Steepbank Lake. Preparations were underway to protect the lodge and other buildings from the impending fire. We were on alert to evacuate via helicopter, should the need arise. We were not evacuated, but we did need to drive around the fire on our way home. It ended up that the forest all around the lodge did burn, but the lodge was saved.

First discovered in North America by Alexander Wilson in 1811, The aptly Wilson's Warbler (Cardellina pusilla) is a bug-avore. It shares its love for crunchy, yummy insects with most other warblers. It does not share, however, it's love for fashionable black toupees--that is a trait that male wilson's warblers keep all to themselves. In the summers, these handsome birds may be found throughout most of Canada and Alaska, and parts of the northern U.S. Right now, though, they've hunkered down for winter, predominantly in Mexico and Central America.

Underneath, he shares the same body as Malvanchar with a slightly modified waist design. He uses all my favorite stuff, including the illegal hand design and earbuds to fill out the joints. I'm quite proud of how he's coming together! The V3 coat isn't perfect, but it's good enough to keep for now. For a while there I thought I need to commission someone to make it, and turns out I can do a decent job myself for this kind of work.

Mértola won us over.

It shares many traits with other picturesque Alentejo towns: the cobblestone streets, tiny white houses with yellow or blue frames, adorned with flowers and old street lamps, an imposing border castle, silence, quietness.

But its character lies in two other aspects: the superb view of the Guadiana River, with white houses cascading from the castle to the river, and the marked Moorish influence.

Mértola was definitively conquered in 1238, under the St. James Military Order and King D. Sancho II. But anyone who visits today its main church (Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Anunciação), once a mosque, and its adjacent museum, immediately detects marked Moorish traces in each architectural feature: doors, columns, volumes.

Mértola has a distinct personality. And beyond our gaze, which stops in its most obvious highlights, we perceive, in the background, secrets and layers of its ancient history.

*

Railroading shares many of the same attributes across the globe, and its not always sunshine and rainbows, pretty scenic locations and joy - often times it is dull and bleak, at odd hours working a 24/7 roster and sometimes just plain hard work....

When Ronald Jansen (@rnld.jansen on Instagram) shares a video clip of a lovely piece of forest that he just found and will visit again next day and you are around the corner, the plans of your next day are made. Luckily he accepted my polite request to join. ;-) Thanks for showing me this happy place of yours! This little creek through the forest was just perfect! It were strange and difficult times for me, but on this morning I had some nature therapy and good company. I actually did a CPL blend here since the greens and leafs looked nicest when reflections would disappear... but I wanted both.

Hi all! I'm still alive and kicking, sort of. And... I just uploaded 21 new images on here!

But I haven't been here for a long time, due to several reasons. The main reason is that I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which means I'm struggling with skeleton and muscle pain, headaches and tiredness. It goes up and down and I need to exercise a lot, 'keep moving'. It also means I cannot sit statically behind a PC, laptop, tablet or telephone for too long. This creates problems for me at work, and also in my photography. I'm still out there shooting, but the processing is going even slower than it did before. So there are less images, but I still enjoy the processing of them, I just need to use shorter intervals and more breaks. I don't have much time left for other things 'online', so I can't keep up with the socials and all photography related thing. I'm still active on Instagram, on and off, uploading some new images and sharing behind the scenes in 'stories'.

On the other side, I've been asked to join This Way Photography Adventures, www.yougothisway.com! An invitation that I happily accepted. The challenges and activities there fit me perfectly now. You can join me and Frank Otto Pedersen on an epic winter adventure on Senja island next March, and we are working on another weeklong trip!

I hope you're all safe after some crazy time for all. Stay healthy and keep shooting!

The Enchanted City is a Spanish natural area of calcareous or limestone rock formations formed over thousands of years. It is located near Valdecabras, in the municipality of Cuenca (Spain), in a wide area of pine forests in the southern part of the Cuenca mountains and at an altitude of 1,500 meters.

It was declared a Natural Site of National Interest on June 11, 1929. The action of water, wind and ice has made this karstic phenomenon possible. The heterogeneity of the rocks in terms of their morphology, chemical composition and degree of hardness is what has allowed their uneven wear by atmospheric elements, resulting in a surprising sample of picturesque art from nature itself. To the whimsical and spectacular existing formations we must add lapiaces, torques and sinkholes.

It shares these characteristics especially with "Los Callejones", a place located in the municipality of Las Majadas. Both places are part of the Serranía de Cuenca Natural Park, created by the Law of the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha 5/2007.

My Flickrfriend Kenneth shares my interest in reflections. He seems to have a knack for finding the weirdest distortions. One of his shots showed a tree reflected in a multifaceted window. It reminded me of one of those games where all the tiles are jumbled up and you have to rearrange them. That got me imagining what would happen if the separate panes did not just distort the image differently. What if they each added a different colour cast. With Kenneth's permission I played around with the idea. I haven't achieved what I want yet but Kenneth does not object to me showing this first reprocess.
